Hey guys, I'm in the market for a good jack and set of jack stands for my 97 TJ. Was wondering what brands/models you guys recommend that have served you well over the years, and the ones to stay clear of?
Likely need a 2.5 or 3 ton jack to get any amount of height. I got mine at seers for $80ish? Also have 2.5 ton jack stands that work great, $25. A lot of guys go with 6 ton stands off harbor freight to get that additional height which can be nice when you're working under the rig. Also if you're just changing tires the stock bottle jack is good for up to 37s

I've got a set of four 3 ton stands that I use when I work on regular cars and under the axles of Jeeps with stock size tires. Got them at the local parts store. They've been fine for almost 2 decades.
I bought a set of four 6 ton stands at the local parts store to work on mildly lifted Jeeps and to support the frame when working on even stock Jeeps. They too have worked flawlessly for almost 2 decades.
Now that my CJ is spring over and going to be running 40's I wanted to run jack stands that could support the frame so I went to harbor freight and got a pair of their 12 ton stands. If you can't hold up your frame with those, I bet you have way more lift than makes any reasonable sense.
As far as jacks themselves, you want one that's gonna last, and will lift your Jeep to a decent height. This is an area where I, personally, don't wanna go cheap. I spent the $$ for a Hein-Warner, and haven't regretted it.
