Bestop front bumper

I came across a YouTube video today of this bumper bending when using the winch. I am interested in this bumper but not sure after seeing this video. Has anyone else heard about potential problem. Not sure if the person might have not installed the bumper properly, which might have been causing bending.

If you're talking about the HighRock 4X4 bumper by Bestop I've never had any problems. I've winched stuck pickup trucks and tree stumps. I love the look and the capability it adds to my Jeep.

Where's the link to the video? I'd like to see it...my 2˘ of thought...if the BUMPER Is bending then the winch is improperly attached. It should be bolted down to the FRAME RAILS, not just the bumper.

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

If it doesn't pull up just search Bestop bumper bending on YouTube. For some reason I think something is not installed correctly.

Type in "Bestop Bumper Bending". As far as the bending, that's just sad.

No winch gets mounted straight to the frame rails, they aren't wide enough to do that. They get mounted to a plate that is then bolted to the frame rails. UNLESS your bumper has a built in plate like the Bestop and many others have.
In the case of the Bestop it says it has a

That dude was relentlessly hounding us about two years ago. It didn't help what when he wrote to complain, our CS rep referred to the "wench" instead of "winch." That really set him off.

Anyway, I think it's the only complaint we've ever had like that.

The bumpers are built like all other good bumpers: thick steel, full welds, and all the tricks, like d ring tabs that go thru the bumper, not plate welded to the front like some super-cheap ones.

Bumpers come from George, our big-time four wheeling engineer. We use them all the time, winch with them frequently, and have no problems.

One of the magazines did a review recently.

So it's supposed to flex like that?
Or did he get a defective one?
What was the final outcome of the claim?

I do not know the details - if he returned it or it was a warranty, etc.

The Bestop bumpers do hold up to winching, and do work just fine. Like I said, we've sold thousands of them, and that's the one complaint I've ever heard like that.
