i know theres post on here about building a prop for my bikini top. but they say to use 2.5" "t's" for the ends at the roll bars. but i cant find any 2.5" PVC. i've gotta yj and have padding on my roll bars. 2" looks too small and 3" looks too big. what other ways are there to make a top prop? i dont wanna have to put the full top back on but am tired of having to dump tons of water out of the bikini every day. also, is there any way to make it so the water that rolls off the sides will fall outside the jeep not all over the seats?
I made a Prop using aluminum bar, with angles riveted on that go over the cage. But my bikini is held out past my seats by the door surrounds. I don't like keeping them on, but being as this is the rainist Spring/Summer start in history here, I need more protection!
dont know how well it would work, but it seems like it would work fine. i was actually thinking of getting one, but was wondering if it is permanently mounted to the roll bars. if so, i dont really want one because i dont want that there if i decide to ride with no top...
That is the piece everyone is talking about, but we would rather make one than buy one.
Here's a thought, If you want a better fit around your padding you could bend up a small piece of sheet metal or similar material to the shape you need. Then get an end cap for the PVC pipe you are using and bolt it to this piece. Attach this to your bars and slide in the pipe.
is this a common problem with bikini tops? i have the besttop safari and it's been thru a couple overnight rainshowers and i haven't had the giant puddle on my roof. it's a pretty tight fit and i think that helps. the duster cover is a different story though...
the problem with using my door surrounds is that i've got the old style roll bars so to keep my door surrounds on i'd have to keep up the soft top from and this looks ugly as sin in the back. i measured today and i do need 2.5" pvc to make the roll bar connectors. and i cant find any that size at lowes or home depot. maybe i'll check a supply house sometime this week. my dad thinks making it go from roll bar to roll bar will put it in the way of my head (i'm 6'1") does any1 else have this problem?
