Bored Q

Bored at work so I'll ask a Q that may have been asked before.
My car STILL isnt fixed so I havent made a decision about buying a Jeep yet but because im thinking about it I do notice them alot more and heres me question...

Why the HELL do you guys with soft tops drive around with the top up and doors on all the damn time even on hot sunny days? I mean If I had one id take my roof and doors off in June and they would stay off till October ( I live in Arkansas)

Is it just the 'wimp' in people around here that make them seal themselves up in their air conditioned environment rather than exploit the advantages of the soft top they own? If its nice and hot outside, a great summers day, and I see a Jeep all sealed up with the AC blowing i reckon thats.....whats the word.....lame......?
Sorry but it just pisses me off like people with BMW M5s driving them at 60mph on the interstate

Agreed Being from the North anything above 90 deg tends to make me druel and babble. There is something that is just not right about breaking a sweat walking from the front door to the Jeep.

BTW I love running topless and doorless.

My excuse...I'm lazy sometimes. It's easier to zip off the sides and back window and throw them back on before it rains. It rains almost every afternoon out here in the summer. My job requires "business casual" attire so going into work with a wet ass would not be very professional not to mention "em-bare-assing"

The weekends are another story....The top comes off and the mud goes on. We have an informal competition on who has the most mud on their Jeeps in the parking lot on Monday mornings.

Not many though...

When I used my TJ as a daily driver, I had some days that I couldn't run with the top down back and forth to work, because I didn't want to ring my shirt out when I got there. Humidity is not a good thing!

With the temps here above 95 and the humidity at 85% or higher daily and thunderstorms almost every afternoon, it's a must right now. Nothing worse than going into the board room in slacks and a tie all sweaty. It will dry up here in the fall and the top will stay off for a while....hopefully.

That's pretty much the only reason I put my top up, though even with a skirt I'll slap on a hat for the ride and let the leg hang out.

This should solve your boredom at work Smeghead
http://www.tv-links.co.uk/listings/1/4129

I took my top off before it stopped snowing here and haven't had it on since (it being stolen kinda helped)
Amy made me a cool bikini top a few weeks ago but that's all I've got.

I was topless/doorless until 2 days ago when there wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was 102 here. Sorry, the sun, the heat, my fair skin, and thinning hair make shade a requirement. Good thing I had it on too - it just started raining and my TJ is in the parking lot.

I dont have a choice.. I get swampa$$ either way. Since I have no A/C I leave the upper door halves off all teh time and the sides and back are gone too. I then just put the top up during the day to keep sun off me and in the evening I drop the top.

I'd venture to say that it's hotter for longer where I live than any other place on the board (well maybe H.G. and the boys down under might have an argument. ) and I roll with the bikini top and no doors all year long. Hot's hot no matter what and yeah people die from it, but I'm not going to die on my way home from work with no doors on.

I say strip'em down and drive'em.

I have yet to use my A/C, but a bikini is a must in 100+ temps. Only time the doors are on is in bad weather.

yeah, it's prolly hotter there, but I think I got you beat on the humidity. An yeah, I like running it stripped down, but right now with record heat ( 100 + ) and indexes into 110, I want the airconditioner cranked and the hardtop on, I don't want to shower, get in my jeep, and be immediatly sweating again, and then have to run out and put the trail cover on when it rains, my plan is to strip it down again in the fall, oh yeah blue jeans and hoodies

Top off

Got to agree with 2 Much. Flew into Georgia back in the 70's while in the Air Force,it was July. It was 99 degrees at midnight and foggy. Felt like I needed gills to breathe. I'm in Ohio ,but Georgia humidity is rough. I have to drive with the hard top because after 3 heart attacks the heat really gets to me.

Ever sit at a stop light in a vehicle while it is 95* outside and the sun is beating down on you? It isnt all that much fun. Also remember half the people you see may be on there way to something important (dont want to be all sweaty).

I run a safari top in the summer, no windows, no doors, and I am in the shade all the time. It is alot better that way.

I've never had a convertible car so I wasnt aware of some of the good answers people have given. Certainly if I was in my best 'whistle' and had to go back to work I wouldnt want to get all sweaty.
Also on a long trip I can see sunburn would be a problem.

I guess i was referring more to the many little froo froo Barbie girls around here whos daddy bought them a jeep to look cool in then never ever take the top off because they might actualy perspire a little then then phone would slip out of their hand while theyre driving
