Bugs !

Is it just me that gets every bug in the state hitting my
windshield or does everyone get bugs hitting their windshields to ? I know the windshield is flat
but man its crazy how many bugs hit it !

I pretty much have to clean it every night. The windshield
wipers doesn't really clean the little critters off at all.

I know i know, get a bug shield but i don't know if i like
the look of them. So what do all of you do ? Just live with
your windshield full of bugs and clean it when you can't
see out of it or do most of you have bug shields ?

Sorry for the rant. Just something that was bugging me !

This is one of my least favorite things about the Jeep, and you're dead on about the flat windshield being the contributing factor.

I personally have never noticed a difference that bug shields do, so personally I don't want to waste the money.

I just deal with it. I have bought the green washer fluid that supposedly helps dissolve the little guys a little better, but I didn't notice much of a difference.

So yea, I clean once I can tell that its getting harder to see.

No man, it's just you.

Seriously, I used to call my Cherokee 'the exterminator' because of the same problem.

Do a Rain-X treatment on it once every 6 weeks or so... it will make them come off a lot easier, plus it's nice in the rain.

I guess I'm so used to looking through all the mud that's on the inside of my windshield all the time that I don't notice the bugs as much.

The bud shield/deflector doesn't do anything to keep you windshield clean!!
Someone also once said something about the Jeep branded deflector helping the windshield washer fluid get sprayed more onto the window rather than all over the hood.
It doesn't do that either!!
My Jeep came with a Jeep branded one when I bought it, so this is first hand knowledge. I would never have bought the deflector and added it, but since it was there when I got the Jeep, it'll stay on until a trail branch or something breaks it.

2 things, one bugs love (bright lights) two, bugs hate (flat windshield)

I'll never forget coming through a field of dragonflys in north dakota one time on my way out to montana. It was about 6:00am, sun just came out, when all of a sudden out of nowhere... WHAP! PING! SPLAT! PING! PING! WHAP WHAP WHAP! There were hundreds of them about 3-5 inches long, windshield, mirrors, grill, you name it. Somewhere we have a couple pictures... I will need to find 'em, it was horrible, you'd have to see it!

Good to hear i am not the only one with a bug issue !

Thanks for letting me know my fellow jeepers that bug
shields don't really do anything to deflect bugs.

I'll have to try the RAIN-X. Sounds like a great idea.

Hey Sevenservices, i had something like that happen to
me when i was going to Gettysburg. It sounded like it
was raining on my windshield there were so many bugs ! I learned if you don't get the bugs off right away they are like glued to the windshield and i have to scub it off ! Oh well something we all have to live with i guess.

sounds like your state needs more pesticide

One time The grasshoppers were really bad here, I drove 20 miles of raining 4 inch grasshoppers, my car started out black, and ended up brownish green faded to black. It was nasty. They'd explode when they hit the windshield @ 75mph.
