Exclamation buyer beware. nates 4x4

ok, this has to be the worst experiance from a business i have ever had. do not buy from nates 4x4. he is a scumbag, with no ethics.

in may i bought the rare bumper / tire carriar from him. i said i needed by a certian date 4 weeks away. he said that he would ship one that was already made tommarow. 3 weeks later i call him and he says its being shipped out tommarow. i say to cancel the order and to give me a refund. he said the refund takes 1 week.

1 week later i didnt have the refund so i call him with no answer. i called him about 70 times thru out the week with no answer. so i had to go threw my bank to get a refund.

this guy is a scum bag, and a scam artist. do not buy from him. he is a waste of time and money.

I had a similar experience...ordered a front bumper July 29th, was told it would take up to 3 weeks to ship..no problem. After 1 month I started making calls, this guy is hard to track down. I left several emails over the next week, and finally got an answer. I was told it was shipping out that friday Sept
5th...wrong. I finally received my bumper on October 14th. 19 weeks and it wasn't what I irdered, they forgot to add the ligkt tabs I paid extra for. I called and finally talked to Nate, he was less than concerned. I asked for the tabs and he agreed. That was 2 weeks ago, now he wont answer his phone or reply to emails...BAD EXPERIENCE.

there is a sight called Ripoff Report: By Consumers, For Consumers. you can report businesses that are shady or that have ripped you off (hence the name). and when you type in the business name in a search engine this report will come up. you can also write a description of what happened to you so that others can read it. i think that website was started by the "to catch a predator".

It sucks when businesses scam you like that.

We had a problem with Boat Trader (I am sure they are affiliated with Auto Trader-so beware) double charging us for an ad we posted a few months ago. My husband called them 1,000 times and spent countless hours dealing with the idiots at that place. They told us on at least 4 different occasions that our refund would be posted on our credit card in 5-7 days (which boggles me because I can buy gas and it shows up on my card the same day). I would access our credit card online (I check it frequently online for fraudulent charges anyhow), and of course that never happened.

Finally my husband told them off and that he was going to file a dispute with our credit card. My husband called Capital one and Capital One credited our Card the full $125 immediately and began the process to go after Boat Trader. Now they owed Capital One $125 instead of us. I guess the fear of being hounded by a credit card company must have lit a fire under their a**. Within 1 day Boat Trader magically processed our refund and it got posted to our account.

My husband and I used to only use our debit card to buy everything because we didn't believe in credit cards. I switched 6 months ago because I learned about the whole "cash rewards" thing and that we could actually make money from them if we paid our balance monthly.

I am sooo glad we did. I am now a believer in the whole "make purchases with credit cards because it is safer and you are protected from fraud" advice. We won't waste our time dealing with jerkoffs ever again. They'll get a couple of chances from us. If nothing is resolved quickly they'll get the smackdown and wrath from the credit card company instead.

Nates4x4

I know that there are a lot of mad customers out there due to the lack of customer service from nates4x4. Nates4x4 is a small welding shop that only one other person works their besides Nate. They can keep there prices low because of low overhead. I have seen there mounting brackets on many of there bumpers and there and not many other bumper manufactures out there that even tie into HALF of the holes that Nates4x4 does. These bumpers are the strongest bumpers that i have seen and used for the price. Yeah they may not look as fancy as some or not come painted, but they are a good u.s.a. made product. Warn makes great winches andother products but keep buying warn bumpers and watch them being shipped over from china because warn needs to make that extra 50 dollars per bumper. I recently got a newsletter from nates4x4 saying that they are now having there bumpers laser cut so the price might be going down again. I don't know how they can do it?? I hate to see people bashing small business on all of these forums, this is not walmart guys, when they do refunds through websites it does take a few days.
I don't know if my math is right but july 24th to october 14th is 14 weeks i do believe there ship time is 1-5 days. that is still a long time. I have made a few purchases from nates4x4 and i know that the spindle casing for the swingout tire carrier is NOT made in house there is a machine shop by them that does that for them and when i ordered my tire carrier it took a little extra longer because they had those parts on order. That to me is a factor that is beyond his powers. I had a hard time getting a hold of him to but when i came to his shop to get my bumpers we had a talk and he said that he get 50-100 calls a day and it is hard for him being the only person answering calls to get back to people so soon.

Nates4x4 may not have the customer service of some bigger companies like Warn, Best top or Mopar but he is just another american man that started a business from the ground up and built products that can withstand very harsh treatment and a very fair price.
To me nates4x4 is a good business and i would recommend there bumpers to all that want a good AMERICAN made product at a fair Price.

Nates mom??

I'm sorry but given these facts I don't think it's acceptable:

1. He said he would ship out one that was already made.
2. He said he would ship it the next day.
3. Three weeks later he said he would ship it the next day again.
4. Then won't give the refund.

Then with the other guy:
1. Got his bumper 16 weeks, about 4 months after the date Nate said it would come.
2. Is not organized enough to get the order right.
3. Is probably too swamped to deal with complaints so he tries to ignore them.

He may make some good bumpers but it sounds like he needs to work on customer service and get his business in order, it sounds like with all the business he gets, he can afford to hire someone to answer phones.

I've heard some good things about Nates 4x4 on other forums and honestly this is the first negative I've heard. That being said, I'm not disputing the fact that some people in this thread have apparent problems with him. One thing I would always caution anyone about though is buying from anyone online that doesn't list a physical address or have a land-line listed. Nate's has neither. That alone would steer me away from doing business with him.

Also Fabartist, if you know Nate, and do business with him, then why don't you make him aware of this thread so he can come here and post up his side of the story.

I've been in business for myself for 12 years now. Its a small business. I know that once in a while a customer will slip through the cracks and you lose him. I hate it, it makes me feel like crap. They will go out and talk shit on you, that's the way it goes. I usually try to make it up to them somehow, but you cant win them all back. It doesn't mean you are a bad person or your company is a bad company.
Now if it happens often, that's a different story. As scout stated this is the first time I have seen anything negative about Nates.

Thanks to all that think that i am nate. I tried to call nate and i did leave him a voicemail telling him about these post. He will probably not get on here though because he stays out of the forums bickering back and forth is not how nates does business.

Later on i will post some great pics of my NATES4x4 Bumpers.

Why would you buy a bumper from him off of eBay? Looks to me like you and Nate are within short driving distance of each other.

I apologize too. Sorry, but seeing a person who get's an account just to dispute a post just smelled funny too me.

As has been stated above, it's always the unhappy 5% that do 95% of the harmfull customer relations for a company.

Personally, I've never purchased from Nate. I have seen two members here have specific issues with him however. I guess the important thing is for everyone to balance the cost/performance of buying from him.
