Buying a jeep - need some help!

Hey there, could use a little help here. I am going to buy a used Wrangler and am having problems deciding on what year to go with. I used to have a '71 FJ40 Land Cruiser and loved it even though it fell apart on me. So I do have some off road experience and know what to expect with a Jeep. I am looking to spend about $10K on the Jeep but dont now enough about the pros and cons of the different years. Im guessing that maybe a '99 with about 80k miles is what I should look for in the newer ones. But I dont mind going older with less miles or a rebuild. I'm going to be using this jeep as a daily driver as well as towing my bikes to the desert and trail riding. I am used to doing minor repairs myself and am not afraid to get my hands dirty. But I would rather buy something that is just ready to go.

Anyways, thats my situation. I would appreciate any help or recomendations.

nahhh, go with what u said a TJ, from 97-06, any year in there should be good, some people say the five speed isnt as good as the six speed, but im fine with my five speed, just make sure to get the 6cyl and the Dana 44 rear axle (will be octagonal not round and have a metal drain plug not plastic)

as for years and miles, they don't always coencide, i got my 97 with 30,000 on it and was only driven in the summer (big thing for mass with all the salt used), it was the same price as 03's with 80,000 miles on them that had been used year round 20k a year, no brainer, so dont rule out any years, just look for the good deal and the jeep that calls to you

yea, if you got that money and can't find a built jeep, buy a used yj or tj (90-06) find one for like 5 grand ( not too hard) and than just build it, lift, tires, front rear bumpers. you can make a good yj with that budget!!!!!!!!!!!! anyway just stick with a 4.0 adn your fine, but.
really try to find one with a dana 44 unless you just can't in witch case just use the extra doe to swap one in (cheap used) anyway all that drivetrain is like 250+k mile setup so good luck.
