I'm sure this topic has been covered before, but I'm new and I can't seem to find a similar thread.
I am interested in buying a used Wrangler for street use only. Are there any model years that you would recommend for longevity and lack of problems? Also, are there any model years that you would stay away from? Anything in particular to look for?
Hey, dj_chizzle, I've got an '04 Unlimited in silver with an auto as well (they only made automatics for Unlimited in 2004) but I dearly miss my '02 2.5L with it's 5 speed. I'd recommend that same combo for the guy that's looking for a DD. BTW, I'm gonna hang on to my '04 for a few more years in spite of the auto.

I love my manual trans, i'm so used to it i dont even think about it. My right just shifts on its own.
haha me too, i cant drive my dads van, i had to move it out of the driveway out of the way, i almost crashed, first hit my foot against the floor tog et it to start, then couldnt find where the lights where, then couldnt find the windshield wipers, then took me a second to remember the shifter is on the column...... you get the idea, all in all it took me 15 minutes to move my dad's van about 40 feet, most of the time was wondering why the key didnt come out, i mean you're supposed to put it in gear when you park right
and yes manuals will most likely last a lot longer
