I don't see why it wouldn't work. We have a JK and when we went to the drive-in last month we put some blankets and pillows in the back, parked with the back facing the screen, opened up the liftgate and laid in the back and watched two movies. The rear seats were taken down to the basement many months ago.

I put an air mattress in the back of my 2010 JKU and me and the wife slept back there one night in Maine. It was cool, but it got a little warm and when we opened the window a bit, mosquitoes came in. The air mattress lost some air over night as they typically do. It did fit, but was tight. It would be better sleeping alone comfort wise.

There's a gap between the back seat and the back. Bring a sweatshirt to stuff it. Take it fom me. I car camp all the time. Even before marathons. Its comfy enough, just not confortable
