| camping storage
hey all. im a new wrangler owner and need some advice as to what you all do storage wise when you go camping.
usually when i go camping, i throw my gear in the back of my truck in two rubbermaid things like this (pic 1) i put food in one and camping requirements in the other.
but now because of lack of space in a wrangler i think im gonna buy a hitch thing such as (pic 2)
i need something more sturdy than the rubbermaid ones ive been using. i want to ratched strap my storage devices down TIGHT and dont think the rubbermaid ones i have now (pic 1) will support the strain.
i was kinda thinking of getting something like the rubbermaid action packer (pic 3)
im wondering if anyone else here uses anything different or better.
thanks!

I have that hitch-haul, and I have used it a ton, on several different vehicles. Used it somewhat like you are talking about on the back of the wife's van on last vacation, stacked several bins on it and used a few tie-down straps. I also used it as a bike rack on my old pick-up.
As for camping, I'm planning a camping trip soon, I plan to use this;
Yes, the picture has been chopped, I wanted to see what it looked like w/ matching wheels!

I've only used it on my TJ to move a few small, smelly dead things I didn't want inside the Jeep, but if you only stack one high, you should be ok, depending on the size of tubs you use. I considered getting one of those hitch relocators to lift this thing up higher and away from the body some, once I get my new bumper & tire carrier on w/ the 33's, I may not be able to get a tub under the spare!

Your trailer will look nice like that.
By the way I'm planning on going to camping pretty soon, and I thought that just taking out the rear seat will be room enought.
Well i dont have kids.......... for now.

I am running a full coverage expedition rack for that very reason. The lab has the back seat. Soft stuff like the tent and sleeping bags/pads fill the space between the seats and not much fits behind the seat.

I use the hitch haul, two rubbermaid tubs on either side. Cooler and Grill in the middle, chairs and fold up table across the top.. Tent and sleeping bags go in the back section of the jeep. The kids hold onto the sleeping bags and blankets.
But I am looking into getting a small trailer to have for such said events.
