can anyone give me advice? please?

please help,

i have a severe clunck under my foot. I am not a mechanic and im not sure whats under there that keeps me going so i need clear advice to give to my mechanic who has been unable to locate the source.
The jeep has been doing this for a while and i cant take it anymore. it seems to be comeing from the middle of the floor under the shifter. and it happens all the time. however when i drive in the higway it goes away. i had my lift kit checked my u joints replace3d my front driveshaft redone and rotors, and yep its still there. i have a 4inch pro comp kit and 31 in ch tires.

i hope you can help me tell him where to start next time.

My Jeep developed a clunk under the middle of the shift column. Turned out to be the bracket that mounts the trans to the skid plate had broken and the clunking was the moter/trans and case sliding side to side. If this turns out to be your problem, be sure to also check your motor mounts as they may be weakened from the movement. The bracket cost around $100 from the dealer, and varying costs used on e-bay or craigslist. Hope this helps you out.

Jeff

My clunk was the loose exhaust clamps under the skid plate. Tightened up the bolts now it's quiet as can be.

Same here. Changed out the bracket and it went away. Also shifted into second gear a whole lot better. Don't figure.

When does this clunk happen? Driving steadily, coming to a stop, accelerating?

It could be one of a couple of things. If you could be a little more descriptive it will help us diagnose the problem.
