Question Can I take my soft top through a car wash?

Would my soft top stand up to drive through car wash? The kind that wacks you with the brushes?

people say you can and have done it, however, i wouldnt, the bristles arent the concern to me, there actualy quite soft, you could touch it with your hand no problem, my concern would be the power washers. Im too worried that there too strong and could damage the windows

I did it one time and backed out in the middle of the wash. Won't be doing that again!

Touch free car washes use harsher chemicals and higher water pressure. Not good.

I do it... As a pre-wash after mudding. Just hold the top as the pressure moves over the front seats.

I take mine to the type of place where they hand wash and pressure wash to start, use chemicals/foam soap along the track, have a machine pressure wash it off near the end, run it through a no-touch drying machine, and end up with a towel dry by a couple teenagers with their ipods on. Never had a problem with that arrangement. I wouldn't go to the automated washes with a soft top, or any other vehicle for that matter.

I have been to fully automated ones where the owner ran out before i paid and said not to go in because the brushes can knock off the rear tail lights and they are not responsible for that. better safe than sorry

That hasn't been true for over 10 years. I know a guy that owns one, I drive through touchless ones about once a week in the winter, going again today, have soft top, looks great. In fact, it cleans my top better than I can ...

The EPA got rid of all the acidic ingredients in those car washes

What's the greater threat here? It seems half the thread is more concerned about chemicals, the rest about the high water pressure coming into contact with the top?

I took my NX Trektop to the touchless wash 3 or 4 times last year. No issues here...

I've taken mine through Auto Bell many times with no issues that I am aware of. I am more worried about my tires jumping the tracks which is happened once.

I take mine through a touchless wash in the winter....never any problems. I talked with the owner and he stated that no harsh soaps or acids are used. my top comes out nice with no streaks or soap stains.

This actually happened to me at a Kaady car wash. I filed a claim and the car wash replaced my tail light.

Touchless wash FTW!
And FWIW, I get more leaking from rain sometimes than from the car wash. :-/

We got a nice touch less place here but the jet dryers at the end are what scare me. I can see those things popping a softop side window out of a door channel or even lifting a header corner. Those suckers are violent in a regular car. But I'd like go to there since they do the undercarriage which is awesome during the winter. Beats freezing my ass off at the pay and spray every week.

I took mine all the time. When I say all the time I mean almost daily. I pay by the month so whether I was once a month or once a day it cost the same. Traded it in for a hard top but would still be doing it today.
