I've heard many say you can run 35s on a d35. I guess it depends on how hard you driving is on and off the road.? How much do chromoly shafts go for? as of now I have 33s but when I upgrade yes I'll probably put a new axle in just to be safe. Plus with 35s the d35 may seem a bit dinky haha.

I'm going from 31s to 33s this time around.. might consider 35s when I get tired of the upcoming 33s

i've got 35's with D30 front D35 rear w/yukon chromoly axles. i think you are fine depending on how hard you drive it. I still need to upgrade to 4:88 gears but everything works how it is. I might just wait til something breaks and then upgrade it.

Well the 35's are on and I am officially back to "MallCrawler" status! Now I need to instal my BL and raise up the ACOS to give me back some room to flex. So far I am pretty hapy with them.....I even think there is a chance that it has improved my MPG but I will keep my fingers crossed and wait till the tank is empty.

Maine really sucks! we got the inspection sticker deal and ur only aloud 3 tire sizes over stock! and worst of all you cant even have any kinda lift kit!!

isnt that jeep biast???

but anyway my dad is a car dealer so when i do get my jeep im gonna do a small lift and have him inspect i. I will probably go with dick cepec dc-1 wheels and some nitto 33s so if i were to do that what would i need for a lift?

its gotta be a small lift though or my old man wont inspect it haha. Don't blame him but don't want him to lose his sticker liscence.

and also is there any other states with these rules?

So far I feel that the 35's are a much better fit for the 4.10 gears, 6spd, and my driving style. I usually like driving around 75mph on the highway. In 6th gear when my stock speedo reads 65mph, my gps reads around 74-75. This means I can go the speed I am accustomed to while keeping my RPMs within the correct powerband. So far it looks like my MPG has increased a bit although I havent had the chance to test it out on any up hills on the highway yet. I am sure that I will have to downshift but we shall see.

I ran 33x12.5x15s on my 01 TJ with an OME suspension, 1.25" BL, and 1" MML which seemed to be a perfect match. Add some flat flares or just trim the stockers and you should be set. I had to add ACOS to the LJ due to the added weight of the winch.

Virginia is similar in that we have inspections. They are easier on the lifts but you cant go higher than a certain distance from the ground to the bottom of the bumper. Cant remember the distance but I have about 6 inches of total lift and 35's and im well within the limit. My buddy told me a nice way around it though, he moved to Va from Sc where they dont do vehical inspections so he has a crazy lift and huge tires on his chevy and just keeps it registered in Sc.

Bigger tires are NOT going to increase your MPG....it only will 'appear' to because your speedometer is not calibrated for the bigger tires. Each rotation of the tire makes it go further than the stock tire so your speedometer is off. You need a Superchip or similar to resynch your computer to the tire sizes and then you will see the reality...larger tires, after a point-mean worse gas mileage because the engine is working harder to drive the heavier, larger wheels.

I am not an idiot and know how all that "SHOULD" work and if I were actually going by my stock uncorrected odometer it would appear than my mpg would have plummeted not increased since not correcting the speedo also affects the odometer as well. (Just to explain....when I had my 33's, for every 100 miles that my stock odometer would show, my GPS would read having traveled just under 110 miles) So I still dont see how it would "appear" that I am getting better MPG with an uncorrected speedo/odometer in fact it should look even worse.

Anyways here is my rational behind this one. I admit I drive like an ass on the highway and like to keep it around 75mph. On top of that my old 33" tires were balanced with massive amounts of balancing beads and my 33's were not much lighter than my new 35's. So now it is looking like it is taking about the same amount of energy to do one rotation but now with the 35's I go a tad further with that same effort. On top of that I can still drive my 75mph (judged by my GPS not the speedo) yet keep a much lower RPM.... thus increasing my MPG.

But as I stated I have only put of about 45 miles of flat mostly highway driving but I know how many miles I usually get per line on my gas gauge and so far I gave got a noticable amount more than I did with the 33's. (ofc this is measured via my gps not stock speedo). I am curious to see how it will balance out in the end though. I was only getting around 220ish miles between fill ups before so between 11-13 mpg depending on how much stop n go traffic I hit and how heavy my foot is on the skinny pedal.

i have a buddy with a florida registration and his vehicle is JACKED up real high. But we got this cop that tickets him every week for it.

It probably dont help that my buddy was banging his wife. but still tickets get expensive after awhile.

How can he get tickets if it's still registered in a state where his vehicle is legal?

because hes a maine resident and registered in florida. the cops dont go for that at all. i know that the cop will ticket you for a mile an hour over if he could. hes a dink. is there anyway he can get out of that? hes been doing it for 5 years and never had a problem until this year

Well the way I think it works is that you have X amount of time after you move to change the registration and my buddy might be able to get away with it because he still has an address in South Carolina.

not quite. you just need to get the proper speedo gear for you gear and tire combination.

Ok, I'll bite.
06 Rubi here, auto tranny.
10.5 mpg
35's and 5.13 gears. Love the combo.

A lot depends on what you want to do. I like my crawl ratio nice and low. I can go down almost anything that I'm brave enough to attempt and rarely need the brakes. Add to that the gear/tranny combo that I have in still gives it some pep.

I got to drive a buddy's Jeep with a standard transmission and 5.13s. I was really impressed and that was what made me choose the gears that I did.

I just installed the 1.25" BL and 1" MML yesterday and I think it is sitting much better with the slight extra room to flex. Plus based on milage from my GPS and the amount of gas it took to fill up this morning it looks like I may have picked up 1-2 MPG going from the 33's to the 35's. I am pretty happy about that but I want to see if it keeps happening the next few fill ups.

Here is a pic this morning after the BL & MML



Here is a pic of the space between fender and tire. You can see the ACOS that are set at the lowest level behind the tire. I am pretty happy with the height but I think that it will need to go up about 1.5" more to give the tire a bit more room to travel. I dont really want to go ant higher but I dont think that I will have the choice. The there is no doubt in my mind that when I get to install my Rokmen belly up skid I will need to invest in a new Tom Woods DS.

How much did it run you for the full set of acos? How was the install?

I picked up the fronts used for $150 and rears $200 online with free ship. The adjustability is worth it in my book.

Install is simple and straight forward. Just helps having a spring comp.
