Car wash?

Will running a Jeep with a soft top through a car wash damage it? The reason I ask such an asanine question is that while I would love to hand wash it, my apartment does not have an outdoor hose connection so I'd be hauling water in and out of the house. Any advice?

car wash

:dance:hi, find a car wash that only water and air touch the Jeep, you should be ok with that combo, the type of wash that uses the felt (as most car washes is not good to use). the type of wash that uses only
water is a self service, you drive into the bay and the system moves
from front of jeep to back and then to the front, it should cost about
$5.00 you can hand dry after it's done, happy hunting..:thumb:

I had the same problem with my old 00' jeep. I never took it through the car wash because of the windows (easily scratched) and all the places water could leak in. There are a lot of people who do take their soft tops through a carwash though (the ones with the felt machines and all that), as I've been told by many carwash owners that they often have soft top jeeps go through the wash.

I personally wouldn't take it through a car wash like that though. You're better off taking it to a self wash place with a wand like mentioned above.

I wash the TJ with no top and no doors by going to the quarter wand/brush place. I take a bucket, mitt, and my own shampoo and fill the bucket with the first "wash" cycle. Then hand wash using bucket and finish with a rinse cycle. Only takes about 15 minutes and costs $2.50 ($1.25 x 2)!

Edit: Also an apartment dweller.

Around here the Guy at the local Car Wash watches the bays for Jeeps and PU's like a hawk !! He is right there soon as he sees ya put the money in the machine and pick up the wand...!! If ya have lots of MUD he kicks ya out fast...LOL. The guys wash off big cakes of heavy Mud and they don't bother to wash em down the drain...Pisses him off bigtime.
I took mine thru a car wash one day when the wife was with me.....Thats her thing, so she tells me to try it in the JKU...Bout tore off my hood !! Popped both Rubber bands loose, ripped off the rear window wiper blade, left it hanging . Nah, I'll hand wash....."BH"

I have been going through a car wash for the past 10 years with my jeep... With the hard and soft top... Never had a problem with the soft top in a car wash with brushes... My soft top is now 12 years old and it does have some scratches on the windows but they are more from offroading and rolling up my back window when it's dirty then from the carwash... In reality the soft top and windows have a lifespan and im about at the end of it... So unless your looking to keep your softtopp for 20 years which prob won't happen anyway go to the carwash...IMO...
