Carseat

I am pissed! Had a friend forward me a pic today that she saw on Facebook. It was a picture of my jeep with my daughters carseat in the rear, this guys caption was a carseat in one of the most unsafe vehicles ever made. Needless to say I am furious. My wife handles it a lot better than I am and she politely posted about how it was safe and legal. One person said they would call child protective services if they saw it. My wife gave them the number and told them to call and we would be happy to meet them. This guy owns a photography studio, I'm thinking about Atleast calling him tomorrow and asking him to take it down. I really want to show up with my daughter in the jeep but I was warned by the wife that probably would end up badly

What a load of crap, I have 2 car seats in the back of my 2door, one toddler seat and one carrier/base. I do not see anything "unsafe" about it. F him, it beats driving around with the kids not even buckled in.

I also have two car seats in the back of my 4-dr. This photographer doesnt know what he's talking about and sounds like an ignorant know it all. I would drive their with my kid in the car seat and have a word with him about taking the photo down. And ur wife is right cause it would end up badly, for him. As far as child services, there's nothing they can do about it so that's a mute point as well. People put car seats in the front seat on 2 door trucks, and thats legal too. It's not the safest thing to do but if thats what you drive so be it, and its still legal.

lol reminds me of my ex and my old Apex.. she had a kid from a previous relationship and the 2 of them always rolled around with me in my TJ... i remember one time this older woman approached me and said you should be ashamed of yourself putting your son in the back of that thing... I looked back at her and said 1st off hes not my son second he enjoys riding in it... figures she would get into a prius...

You had a carseat, what about the kids that stand up in the backseat? Ask this joker if he even has kids, or is just looking for some cheap publicity. There is nothing illegal about it, would you happen to know anyone that works for a law firm? If you send a letter with a nice letterhead asking him to take down the photo that might be a better way to go about it.

Maybe we could get everyone here to post pics of carseats in their rides?

I'm with you that's ridiculous! I've had my daughters day care owner lecture me on how "unsafe" it is. I agree with the last post!

This is the same sort of douche bag that calls the cops on people who legally carry firearms.

Just take a picture of his store front and put it on Facebook... "Hassles law abiding citizens with his camera."

It would be very ugly if that were my Jeep with my granddaughter's seat in the picture. I would remove the top and doors, drive to that schmuck's studio with my granddaughter in the Jeep and call that bastard out, dare him to call the cops and bring the press into the issue.

He is probably pissed because his wife carries his man nuggets in her purse and won't allow him to drive a Jeep, let alone own one. As far as the pic of our kids int he car seat....I need to get an updated one, but here you go!

Ok guys just an update. Upon doing a bit more research turns out I went to school with his wife. So I called him on the number for his website and told him who I was and explained that I am a firefighter and car seat safety is of the utmost importance to me. I also told him how the seat was professionally installed by a local law firm who does carseat workshops. He said he takes pictures all the time of things he finds odd and puts them on Facebook. I told him I did not appreciate it and would like him to remove it. He agreed and said he never thought about what he was posting, just that it was "funny". He apologized profusely and immediately took down the picture. About 30 minutes later I received a text from him informing me he took it down and was very apologetic. He also wanted to offer my family a free photo session to apologize. Which I declined, much to the dismay of my wife. Apparently his photos are award winning and he is very expensive. So turns out handling it in a civilized way worked pretty good. Not sure that will become my new method of communication but I'll keep it in my arsenal. Lol

Our Jeeps are probably safer than many many Imports, aka Tin Cans. Hey and we even have roll bars in case there's a roll over accident, try that Honda, Toyota, Nissan, the list goes on and on...

Glad it worked out for you and how you handled the situation.

Go to IIHS-HLDI: Crash Testing*&*Highway Safety to see actual safety test results and ratings. The reality is that Jeep Wrangler 2-dr scores well below market average, especially in side-crash tests, and 4-dr doesn't fare much better. IIHS wouldn't even perform roof strength tests on a Wrangler because it would fail miserably compared with unibody construction cars. The Jeep has its advantages, but safety is NOT one of them.

Imports, or as you call them Tin Cans, are actually the ones that are leading in safety, although Ford is doing pretty well. Subaru is the only brand that has ALL models rated "Top Safety Pick", while Toyota is the manufacturer with the highest number of vehicles on the "Top Safety Pick" list. Needless to say VW, Volvo, and other European manufacturers score high, too.

The reason is simple. European (EuroNCAP) and Japanese (JNCAP) government crash tests are much more demanding than the US DOT and NHTSA standards. Half of US-made cars wouldn't score more than 2 stars on the EuroNCAP tests. Any car that passes EuroNCAP or JNCAP tests with reasonably good results will automatically score high on the US tests. That's why IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) uses European tests protocols instead of US tests.
