Don't blame you one bit...yup...stealth would have been a better option...with a baseball bat to keep the fool face down while the cops got there...unless you're facing bodily harm a gun would likely do you no good against a petty thief...you have to practice restraint and keep your gun out of sight and holstered and reserved for a s*it hits the fan scenario...then if the SHTF you're ready(and justified)

However...it would totally be worth the assault charge to beat the everliving hell out of them

Glad you are ok and hopefully no damage to your Jeep.

Ahhh, that ad brings back some memories. When I was a young whippersnapper, in my mid teens, I worked at a small gunshop in California (yeah, that WAS a long time ago). I volunteered to be the crazy fool to be on the receiving end of a 12ga. beanbag round while wearing a Vietnam era flak vest. Didn't hurt as much as I thought it would, so the next round I took in the back without the vest. OMG!!! I felt like I had been hit by Mark McGuire at his 'roid best. I'm fairly certain I used every foul word I knew in front of every man, woman and child there. Needless to say, I don't ever want to volunteer for those again. Now the taser experience was for a good cause!! ;-)

Back in the 80's I had a CJ7. One morning I backed it out of the driveway and parked it across the street so my wife could get here car out and go to work. A few minutes later there was a knock onthe door. The house across the street was getting a new roof and the workers asked if I would move my Jeep because they were expecting a delivery truck with the rooffing materials in 30 minutes.

I said no problem because I was getting dressed and was leaving in 10 minutes anyway. I got dressed and looked out the window to see 2 legs hanging out the back of my Jeep.

I ran out there and the dumb SOB was trying to put it in nuetral with my TC shifter. (it was an automatic!) I yanked him out and beat the crap out of him while all his buddies laughed. They said they warned him not to try that.

Perhaps if you did not smoke you would have been able to catch the SOB and have your way with him. Just a thought.

i've never carried a gun....but i got a nice broken shovel handle wedged next to the drivers seat, well concealed..just waiting to be pulled out.

Not much use if i'm away from the jeep, but the intruder wont see it if i come barreling at him while he's rummaging thru my jeep. he will get a beating he wont forget either way

I've carried a gun daily since I was 21, it's become second nature to me. Doesn't make me tougher or a bad a$$, believe it or not it actual makes me think more clearly about getting myself out or avoiding a situation because my gun is my last resort and I hope I never ever have to use. I've had to draw it one time in the last 10 years in self defense and thank god I didn't have to pull the trigger. I had my vehicle broken into 3 times when I lived in NY (people in Vermont know better cause we have the highest rate of gun ownership here so theirs not much breaking and entering ) so I know how you feel. Not worth killing a guy over but definitely worth sticking a gun in his face and having him crap his pants and knowing not to come back to your house. I forgot what the point to my post was but I know how you feel just don't over react and do something stupid cause it's not worth it, you will be in jail and won't be able to drive your jeep and that would be a pity. Keep the shotgun handy for intimidation but don't pull the trigger unless he comes at you.

-1 i think the only time a firearm should be drawn is when it is going to be fired imediatly after. All for beading him with a stick though

Next time I suggest the single shot to the head method.

I've yet to see anyone in my jeep, If I do, They will be lucky if all they get is jail time.

I do love the great state of Texas. I'm a bit nervous for the Jeep this weekend, since it stays outside.

On another note, you should really stop smoking, that shit is bad for you.

I agree to an extent. It should only be drawn with intention to fire but situations change. If you can get out of a situation where you felt the need to protect your life by drawing and the aggressor backs off it's a win, win. I don't mean toting and brandishing a gun to intimidate people but if it came down to it and you felt the need to draw it would turn out better for both of you if no one HAS to get shot.

If a guys coming at you with a knife and you pull your gun and he keeps coming hes going to get shot theirs no doubt but if you draw and he stops in his tracks and turns and runs or drops the knife that's also a win and nobody had to get hurt. I definitely agree though if it comes out plan on using it. Fortunately I never had to fire because the sight of a gun was enough to back off a guy that had the intention of causing me some serious harm.

definitely agree jebby me too, that's why it stays concealed until the last possible moment.

Jeepers creepers, fortunately for you Indiana is a Shall issue state, meaning if you apply and your not a felon and meet the requirements (which are very few, things like being an American citizen etc..) they WILL issue you a lifetime concealed carry permit unlike other states like NY,MA,CA, and a few others where you have to have an exact reason to carry a gun in there communist country. What those politicians don't understand is criminals don't follow laws so if you have a gun free zone like say most college campuses guess what it's open season for criminals because they know all the law abiding citizens on campus can't defend themselves and won't have guns, it's an easy target. You cannot get a concealed carry license in the state of Illinois but yet Chicago has a ton of gun violence. Again criminals don't follow laws so they are the only ones with guns while the good citizens are left as helpless victims. Sorry I feel very strongly on this subject. Anyway this link will help you get started in the right direction. Unfortunatly most states make you pay a lump some of $ to be able to legally protect yourself but it's worth it. VT,AK, and AZ realize it's a right not a privilege and therefore no permit is required to carry concealed and no one has to be paid off to give you a permit one of the many reasons I love living here.
