I am far from an expert, but here is what I did.

My CB is mounted under the dash on the bracket that it came with. I can see the display from driver seat and it does not interfere with the shifters. I mounted the mic on the dash just over and to the left of the heater controls.

For the antenna I chose a 3' firestick. I mounted mine right to the rear corner with the antenna coming up thru the tire bumper. You need 15ft of cable, a mount, a coupler and the antenna itself. I ran the wire out the bottom of the mount then up under the rear corner, used a rubber gromet and followed the carpet seam all the way to the cb.

There is not much else you need. 40 channels is standard, as is 4watts for most non commercial cbs, more than that requires a linear amp and as far as I know they are illegal.

I am running a yj, if you need pics just pm me and Ill send them.

Good luck!

have the best ground possible for your antena, I mounted the antena on the front fender, made a small bracket and grounded it with a baterry cable directly to the chassis . I mounted the cb by the end of the console against the dash, I had to cut some of the console plastic to slide it there. the mic, I also mounted it next to the vent.
read the install manual that goes with your cb. check arround where you live, i'm sure you'll found a cb shop not too far. the guy can set it up for you if you want. the antena cable is long so make sure you do not loop it. I also added an external speaker that I mounted on the top left of the dash, on top of the left vents

I mounted mine inside the center console. The antenna mount is on the bumpette( helps clear the garage) but I have been debating moving it to the spare bump stop. Grounding EVERYTHING is key to cb hook ups. I've done 3 so far and all issuses were a poor ground somewhere

If you look in the communications and electronics section, there are several posts with lots of good pictures of setups for where to mount the radio and antenna. If you don't park in a garage, the spare tire carrier mount seems to be a great place to mount the antenna.

thanks, I like it too, I didnt want to have the radio or the mic in the way while driving, thats why I came up with this location.. for the antena, I convinced myself, LOL, that being in the front with a little less "mass" right next to it, I would have a better reception (supposily you should have 2/3 of the antena above the car ) + I dont like to do like other people..
