Ceiling hard top storage - weight

My garage has rafters instead of trusses and so it only has 2x8 joists every 48". The span on these is about 23 feet.

I want to store my wife's hard top for her JKU with a ceiling mount lift but I'm a bit worried about the load it will put on the joists even though there is technically no roof load on them.

Anybody have any advice on this or have a similar setup?

If you place additional beams perpendicular to and above those rafters and hang your weight from those, the load will be distributed across all of the rafters that you span.

Thanks. I was talking to someone else about it the other day and they had a similar recommendation. I think I may do something like that.
