Changing engines........

My buddy just swapped out his 245k motor off his Civic and he only spent $1100 out the door for a new (35k miles) motor straight from Japan. He told me that in Japan, smog regulations are so strict that people dump their motors or even their cars every 2-3 years and junkyard here buy them in bulk because we know 35k miles is barely anything on a motor.

QUESTION: How much would it cost to purchase a slightly used motor for my Jeep?

Nothing. Just getting paranoid if anything happens, I want to know how much a new TJ would cost.

Yea, you're right. Nothing so far.

Not to sure how much it would cost. I thought maybe you was drifting your Jeep with them golf carts and something happened to it.

If you are just looking for a junkyard swap, they are pretty easy to find, and I think that all of the 4.0's from any Jeep from 1991-2001 can be used interchangeably. So you could go pull a 4.0 out of a Cherokee and use it in your TJ. I think the last couple of guys that I know that did the swap spend less than $500 for the motor, and reused the accessories off of their current vehicle.

If you have to ask what it is or what it does, you don't need it, and you will need help to install it!
