Thats great. Wonderful unions for you. Drinking and getting on high on the job and you get your job back. This is a wonderful country we live in.

Hey not all unions are like that im an iron worker for local 433 in Vegas and we get drug tested.. but in my opinion all the unions could go away and we'd be just fine

So that makes it ok? The majority of the work force in this country would never get their job back for what they did. They got a 2 year vacation probably collecting unemployment under the Obama care 99 week vacation plan and now they get their jobs back. Thats real f'ing nice where the f do i sign up.

Sorry man, they should not have come back to work there at all. What was their excuse??? We didn't know it was wrong. What a bunch of BS.

My job you pull that and first there goes the clearance and then there goes the job....

This exact same thing happened at the Ford plant in St. Paul where they made the Ranger. The plant was closed last year when Ranger production ended, but it was the same deal, where a news crew went undercover and caught a bunch of guys getting wasted in the park nearby.

I knew a few people who worked there, and it's entirely unfair to paint everyone who worked at that plant with the same brush. There were good people there, as I bet there are at the Chrysler plant. If you work for a major company, I almost guarantee that you work with people who are impaired in one way or another at any given time. This is no excuse - they should have been fired.

It wasn't that long ago that that was considered perfectly acceptable. It still is in some countries.

My old boss who retired last year, used to talk about in the mid 1970's working in a print shop, that it wasn't uncommon to go to lunch and have a few beers and go back to work running a printing press.

The key point here is FOX NEWS. Fox hates democrats, working class people and I'd bet anyone driving a jeep wrangler. Fox news is a joke in the news world.
If you watching fox news your just out of touch with reality

Everytime me and the owner of the company i worked for went to lunch, we always had a beer, what is wrong with that? I dont know how much those chrysler guys had to drink, but i would have 1 beer, not like i would be stumbling drunk. I love that the story said they were (goofing off) what does that mean anyway?

I wouldn't go that far but fox news is a huge joke and a republican station. The way they talk about democrats and everyone else for that matter is sickening. We have it on at work for some reason and on I think it's like the five or something they have one democrat at the table surrounded by four republican dbags who just kill this old guy all show. Best episode was when Obama was reelected and the guy finally had his moment and they were like "oh well obviously this country is full of idiots and scum that roam the streets trying to collect welfare and just have kids for te money." (Very true) but should they honestly talk like that on tv? No and it happens everyday it's sick

^^^^ MSNBC does the same thing to Republicans...always trash talking them. Doesn't matter which station you watch, there will always be bias one way or the other.

Point here is that it is NOT ok to drink on the job. Do you want a guy with a buzz installing the nuts that hold your suspension together?

I'd wager a good portion of trail rigs have been put together after consuming a few adult beverages.

In days of old, when I was hauling garbage in Chicago, it was a normal lunch that included a beer during the summer months. No one had more than one and we were fine after the fact. While I see no problem with that past practice, it was ripe for abuse like many things are.

Interesting views so far.

Most major news media in America, namely MSDNC and Faux News, are in violation of their FCC licensure to broadcast news as they broadcast opinionated analysis which is decidedly different from "news". Both should have their license revoked, but I wouldn't hold my breath (although a petetion is being sent to the FCC to pull Fox for this reason).

On to the point.

They were fired two years ago. Did that punishment not fit the crime? If not, what else should they do? If so, what penalty are they still obligated to pay? Do we not believe in rehabilitation?

If an addict goes to his boss and asks for help, what should the boss do? Fire him forever?

Now I'm not saying I would give them run of the plant, but to make mistakes is human, to forgive them is divine.

This has been going on since people have worked for a living.

This is still America, and we still get second chances. First offense, send them to rehab, second offense, show them the door.

I work where there is mandatory random drug AND alcohol testing, the same standards as railroad engineers. Blow .04, that's right, .04, the equivalent of 1 beer, and you are busted. Don't come to work hungover.

Salary still drinks at lunch, because all the tests are done in the morning, plus they are always given a heads up on when the testing is going to take place. Real fair, huh?

Us lowly UNION folks are not allowed to leave plant site for lunch.

That's why they have been the highest ranking news source for over 10 plus years. Being a joke is certainly working for them.

It has also been documented that those who recieve news from Fox and Fox alone are less informed than people who watch no news or read any newspapers at all. "Infotainment" is not news, even if people watch.

There are some jobs that people shouldn't have a beer during, lunch or whatever. Cops, Fire fighters, military, and so on.

My job for example...I work on the equipment that pilots use to land aircraft in inclement weather. ILS for those that know. If you fly, would you really want me to have a beer or two at lunch, or dinner? Or maybe the pilot, I'm sure some of them would love to have a beer at lunch...

And the guy that puts your car together is ok having a beer or two? How about the guy that fixes cars at the dealership, the ones that do warranty work. Heck, lets give the guy that installs the seat belts two or three...
