| Chevrolet or Ford?
If the Chrysler corporation decided to "strip and flip" and sell off Jeep to Chevrolet or Ford which of the two automakers would you like to see take over Jeep? Chevrolet or Ford?
I'd pick Ford. Personaly I dont really care for GM in general. GM always seemed overpriced to me. Not to mention I don't like the Big Brother, I meen On Star in the vehicles. I was with my wife when she bought her Vue, and the On Star rep was pretty pushy. And the Saturn dealership basicly made my wife talk to the rep before we left the lot. Its kinda unsetteling talking to someone through a speaker in the rear view....

WTF - Chrysler was sold by Mercedes and is now independently owned by Cerberus.

It's an idea I got from the latest issue of Truck Trend. They were talking on the topic of the future of the Chrysler corp. While Cerberus did buy Chrysler, GM was a potential buyer. But anyway Truck trend was saying how Chrysler may pair down its dealerships. Having all dealerships sell Chrysler/Dodge/and Jeep. Or its a possibility if Chrysler corp doesnt change for the better that Jeep could be sold off to a major automaker. I hope the Chrysler corp pulls it together too, they are no longer part of the Big 3 for the first time ever....

How many of you remember when AMC had the Jeep models?
I think that if Chrysler ever did sell off the Jeep rights, the Jeep would still be a good vehicle because of the following it has. A new buyer would have to recognize if they started screwing with the Jeep how many sales would they lose? Millions of $.

I would think that the Jeep name is the Crown Jewel of Chrysler Corp. If they sell Jeep, they would lose the name that has made money since 1946.

Ford will make it ugly with the headlights on the bottom and put 4 foot wrangler emblems on it.

Um, you guys DO remember that Willys and Ford made the original Jeep in WW2, right?
Ford would be a return to roots, of a sort, and may mean a way to get 8.8-like axles on Jeeps from the factory. I am hardly a Ford fan, and given both GM's AND Ford's financial status right now, I don't either is a seriously viable option to buy. Ford is talking about selling off Jag and Volvo, so buying Jeep isn't in the cards ANY time soon.
GM is looking better, but still not great and they actually have some nicer cars coming down the way. As far as Onstar, we had it when we got our Avalanche, but never used it and never renewed after the initial free trial. No biggie. As long as I have XM or Sirius, I'm good.

i say chevy only because they run the I6 in their trailblazer...it would be cool to see the inline back into the wrangler.

It doesn't matter, they're already done making the "real Jeeps". The JK kinda killed off the Wrangler anyway.

Im finding it very hard to deal with the fact that I will soon be buying a domestic. I've had no luck at all so far with them. For my mind they all suck, but theres no decent Japanese Jeep so..

well, i would have never considered a wrangler before the JK came out.
and saying it "killed off the wrangler" is a pretty bold statement, dont ya think?

We are actually thinking of purchasing a 4 door JK - the most capable off the line, off road vehicle on the market. I spent a weekend with several, stock, JK's, and they didn't hold anyone up...

no offense cause i like the JK, but this isn't suprising considering you own 2 cars on dubs.

You guys are just like the CJ guys back when the YJ came out... forget the fact that the new vehicle is lightyears ahed of the last one.. "i just wont like it cuz it sdoenst look like mine... wah wah wah...boo hoo..."
The fact is that a stock Rubi TJ would never do what stock rubi JK does...

JK "the most capable off the line, off road vehicle on the market"?
not sure id agree with that. I mean they still make the H1, then theres the Land Rover. But its certainly the best considering price too

I would agree on the Range Rover maybe... but the H1 isnt as great as people would like to believe... that IFS is pretty fragile.. I have a nice picture of my buddies old Land Cruiser pulling a broken H1 out of a hole... Ill see if i can scan it...

the new JK is better...but not head over heels. the TJ could still go most places the JK could...plus the tight places where JK can't fit.

from a mechanical stand point, land rovers are HORRIBLE, and I would NEVER trust one out in the woods without a sure-fire way home.
I hate ford, so chevy, but a year ago I would have cursed chevy too. I grew up chevrolet, hate dodge and ford, but Ford has really been improving latley (atleast from what I can see in the repos at work) and GM was going downhill FAST. Looks like GM is starting to correct though.
As for a Japanese Jeep, old 4runners aren't half bad at all if you REALLY don't want a domestic, But there is no substitute for a Jeep offroad.

LOL. sorry dude, but you dont know anything about me. Just because i have a 600hp car on 20"s and a daily driver on 22"s, doesnt mean that i havent owned several offroad vehicles before.
i just never really liked the look of the pre-JK two door jeep. hell, i really dont even like the 2 door JK now. but im in love with the 4 door.
its just a personal opinion, there are no "facts" about it.
