Actually, Mitsubishi built Willys Jeeps well into the 90's since WWII.

i'm so sick of seeing the "made in china" labels, as are a lot of people. Manufacutrers are getting sneaky now in stead of "made in china" the stickers say "made in rc" (republic of china) so dont me fooled by it.

They still produce the XJ over there, under license, with the clause they won't try to import it to the US.

And a V8 is an option, it does not show well but they also raised the roof with one of those bump up tops about 3", kinda like a land rover. I lost the good pics of it and that pic does not do it justice, the good pics do. It is what Chrysler/Jeep/MB should have let the XJ turn into instead of the cartoon looking liberty.

When I was shoping for my jeep I came across a chinese Wrangler TJ. It was a fake and being sold as a jeep by the dealer. He didn't really know anything about jeeps and had bought it at auction. It had a full fiberglass front that tilted open like a semi does. The axles were spindly and weak looking and it had a leaf suspension.
I found a pic of one it doesn't show much, but you get the idea.

i bet that pos couldn't even traverse a bag of trail mix, not to mention an actual offroad trail.

the front end is one piece, the fenders are molded in the the grille. and the "winch" has dental floss for line, well you may not be able to pull yourself out of a hole but at least you'll leave nature feeling minty fresh.

Heres that fake jeep through the "manufacturing" process:

Note that it is all one piece, no removable hard top.

ARB look-a-like bumper

Looks like the solid construction on the roof would really protect you during a roll over!

Doesn't look like that bumper is anything more than molded sheet metal

I hate that 10 pictures per post rule, but here's the rest.

Looks like there is already a scratch on the bumper, just right of the ARB sticker (nice touch with the stickers though)

Weird how the bolt pattern on the pocket style fender flares seems to stray away from where it is supposed to bolt in. I bet those hood latches work like the YJ ones do.

I love the fit and finish of the interior!

Overall I think that would be a lot of fun to do! I wonder if it's four wheel drive??

Oh and here's more on the cool Chinese Jeep: Click me! And me!

I am really bored so I found another one you might find interesting.
Here is a Chinese knock off of the Jeep Hurricane concept! I don't think it's 4wd.. Link. aaand a seperate company made a mini version: Link.

Whats with them always putting those dinky ATV winches on there?

Looks like there's only a brake pedal (skinny pedal is black)

Who needs a stereo??
