I had one on my 2006 for security reasons, but on the 2004 I have currently, I opted for a soft top as I hated removing the hard top. (takes 2 people unless you have a fancy or homemade lift)
I'm sure you're right. The JK Unlimited appeals to a MUCH wider section of owners than the 2 doors ever did, and they come much more loaded with neat things. I expect a lot of the Unlimited owners like the idea of a removable hard top.
Plus, even I recommend people get the Jeep with a Hard top, if they are at all unsure. It's hella easier to add a soft top later on than it is to add a hard top, even if Jeep does sort out distribution.
