cleaning an 02 sensor

i thought i read somewhere, (not on this site) that you can take off your o2 sensor and spray some electrical cleaner in it and maybe possibly it would clean it enough and it would be cleaner and almost as good as new??

i think this might depend on what kind of o2 sensor you have right?

if i could remember where i read that i would go back and read it again and or post it here.

anyways, does this sound even logical or possible?

In my experience, I do not believe it's possible. I've toasted a couple of O2 sensors using too much "carb" cleaner. Throw them out and buy some new ones...

im affraid i toasted mine. i just did the seafoam treatment, and there is no CEL on, but i fear that it may have effected the sensor.
i was wondering if there was a way to clean the o2 sensor quickly and easily. dont want to buy a new one because i dont know for sure if its bad.

There is no way of cleaning them. The go just go bad and then need replacing.

Seafoam won't have a negative affect on em'. I've had O2 sensors go bad from being taken out for exhaust work then reinstalled.

Bottom line: Cleaning won't work. If you're not throwing an engine code don't worry about it, although they should be replaced once and awhile to insure maximum engine efficiency. NTKs can be had for under 50 bucks off of summit and the only one that effects performance is the upstream.
