Click / grind shifting into second

When my brand new ruby is cold (-10 n colder outside), when I shift from first to second, it clicks or sometimes almost grinds going in. Doesn't matter how warm the jeep itself gets. Can drive around for hours n it will always do this. Anyone know what im talking about?

this is the first winter i've had my JK ( 2007 ) and i have noticed that when shifting into 2nd ( on cold days ) there is a noticeable 'click-like' sound and it takes a little effort to get it into gear smoothly. but mine seems to go away once its warmed up.

Go to a transmission shop or the Jeep Dealership.
This is the best advice I can give.

Jeep claims there is nothing wrong with it, that it is just something it does when it is cold, too bad it was only minus 3 when they took it out. I'm getting used to it now, just different from other manual tranny's I've driven.

Kinda sounds like the synchronizers in the tranny but I don't know much...

Not sure what tranny you have but I know some tjs with the ax-15 and nv350 5 spds have a similar problem with 2nd gear. The only thing that concerns me is that it doesn't change as your jeep warms up. You might need a fluid change.

When it's warm outside, it doesn't do it. Has done it since new and the dealer claims its normal. So I'm not gonna worry much I guess

Definitely because of the extreme temperature, I wouldn't worry about it.

the Owner's Manual advises that "...you may experience increased effort in shifting until the transmission fluid warms up"
