cluster panel

98 sahara 6cyl, air bag light will come on and tach and spedo stop working, while driving.... all of the other gauges continue to work just fine. It did this three times on the way to work. Approx. 30 min. Drive. ?????? What would cause this?

Google search Tj gauge cluster fix, you will find your answer.
It's a simple tweak of the connecter pins behind the cluster. very easy quick fix.
Good luck

I searched that on google. Do I have to do everything it says in the tsb? Or is there a shortcut around the saudering? The tsb showed a long list procedure.

Pop off trim piece above defroster, remove panel below and around steering wheel, remove gauge cluster. Less than ten screw total that I remember. Easiest fix I believe I have ever done to any vehicle. My 98 TJ gauges were doing the same thing. I took off the cluster, tweaked the pins slightly and sprayed some electrical contact cleaner on them and have had zero problems since.

TJ Jeep Problem with Instrument Guages.

Here is the exact procedure I used on mine. Took less than 15 minutes total. Probably less than ten you could do it if you study the procedure before starting. If the connections are the problem, this WILL fix it. A dealer probably gets $75-100 for this simple fix. Anybody regardless of mechanical inclination could do this fix.
