clutch slipping?

So i was driving to work today and when i shifted it seemed like i wasnt fully off the clutch, but was. i was in 5th gear and i got hard on the acceleration, it didnt redline but not far from it. it also diddnt accelerate much. the upshift light also comes on.

could this be a clutch issue?

How many miles on the jeep? Have you tried testing the clutch by putting it into 4th gear, holding the brakes, and releasing the clutch? Your engine should stall. If it doesn't, its probably time for a new clutch.

My 98 Jeep did the same thing a few months back in 3rd and 4th gear. I've tried the 4th gear thing and the engine died. I have 129K miles. Last week the symptoms went away. Anyone have any thoughts? It seems to shift fine and accelerate fine now but has a slight amount of vibration when taking off in 1st.
