cmon bro, its a jeep

"cmon bro its a jeep."

im begining to hear this phrase in my jeep alot when riding with a friend. im a smoker but i dont smoke in my car. i eat in my car sometimes but i dont trust others to not make a mess. etc. i like wheeling, but i dont go overboard and bend to peoples wishes when they tell me to hit up some rediculous wheelin obstacle.

these things annoy the sht out of me. i hate when i say i dont want this or that in my jeep people just say, cmon bro, its a jeep. well its a jeep, and fun to four wheel but i still want to take care of it. i have a payment of 350 a month for 5 years, trust me, i want to take care of this thing.

a comment hear or there didnt get to me, but today i was taking a friend to dinner and i do my usuel slow down alot when i go over the trian tracks. and he said why do you do that? i said i want my tires to last. which i knew it was coming... cmon bro, its a jeep. maybe i should just stop all these precuations to save you your precious 4 seconds

just thought id rant for a minute. got it all out

the odd thing is my last POS 11 year old car everyone rlly took care of it. but now that my car says jeep on it i guess its a inventation to not take care of it

Rough is one thing, trashed because of other people being inconsiderate is another. Stick to your guns Slippy.

X2. It's yours, you are making the payments. If you take care of it (note I didn't say baby it) it will last a long time, and if you ever need to sell it, it will be worth more.

I agree with amy. Because its just a jeep, that doesnt mean you're suppose to trash it. On second thought why not try this instead? I mean we already have the removable doors, why not add this too?

(a scene from 2 fast 2 furious)

Also 1 of our tires costs as much as a set for their little beater.

I agree, I hate that too. I was talking to this guy at work the other night and he was asking me if I wheeled it any. I said not really yet, i had several little issues with my lift that i wanted to get taken care of, so I didnt break something. He said that's part of having a jeep is breaking it. True, you wheel you are gonna break stuff and that's fine, but I'm not gonna go wheel mine without the lift lined out and break something for no reason. Some people just get under my skin!! He was also giving me $hit for putting the top up with rain clouds overhead. I said you ride home with a wet ass, not me!!

Just tell em to make the payments on the jeep and then you'll drive it like he wants.

Glad to hear I am not the only one.

Got a 580 dollar a month payment and it's the most expensive vehicle I've owned (can't count the truck, it's used for business and it's not my drive)
I've smoked in my vehicles forever, now I keep a can of that gum in it (no wrappers) I've gone almost 8 weeks without smoking in it and so far I am over the want to have a cig on the road.
I was a total car pig, due to a 60 hour a week schedule plus I do sales calls for our business so I always had paperwork, tape measures, samples etc in the car, not anymore.
(can't have all that crap in the jeep if I want the top down)
No eating in the jeep either...again, so far, so good.

I don't sweat the train tracks or the baby potholes but still slow down a fuzz and I sure don't go after them intentionally.

Another thing, which is really irritating the crap out of me lately, I don't gun it, kinda pointless anyway with the gear ratio (rubi) and now that I am almost at 3000 miles, I am finally hitting just over 18 mpg. I get people just on my butt stomping on their gas peddle...ugh, you'd think folks would ease up on acceleration etc with gas pushing four bucks a gallon. I am saving a gallon of gas a week driving like that.

Now when he's paid off I'll take him off road and give him a good dirty rough and tumble ride maybe even a lift but for now, since it's my daily drive and that payment hurts I'll treat him a bit on the gentle side. I even vacuum and give him a good handwashing and chamois dry. I'm sacrificing for this thing, horses stay at the farm this summer so no long evening rides after work, no more disposable income, so no, not gonna womp on the thing just yet.

I should add that I do absolutely love this thing. More now than when I first got it, usually that new wears off really quick after a few payments. He's a joy to drive and I think that says a ton since I gave up a car that got 30 mpg for it. So far it's worth the extra gas. Of course, if gas hits over five bucks a gallon I might be kicking myself for not getting a damn little death trap prius or perhaps just figure out a way to ride my horse to work!! LOL!!

Know xactly whatch mean! I'll be celebrating "Silver's" b-day in mid June....2yrs. Wow! Time flies. I still pamper her. No food, I dont smoke (so they dont either), no drinks in the car (i.e. mile, soda, apple juice), chicks are very welcome, kids need not apply.
Washer, wax and spit polish and vac regularly. $400 bones a month too!

I paid mine off but still no smoking is allowed. Maybe a closed bottle for a drink and some food but with a wrapper on the lap and very carefully.

I have to say that I eat, drink and smoke in my jeep. I may be little rough with it sometimes also, but then again I make sure i'm up to date on all the maintence and may even through a coat or two of wax on it.

I fully understand especially if you are still making payments like most of us are.....no food...lucky to get to drink clear liquids on a hot day in my Jeep...definately no smoking (I don't smoke) but most of my friends/family have cars or SUV's...so they commute more folks than I do..thank goodness.

I will vouch for wheelin352. He was nervous about his new paint but that ride was calling to him. I will not discuss the condition my rig is usually in here

It's a simple issue of respect, consideration, and a little envy mixed in. People assume that you take certain liberties with your Jeep that most car owners do not...(e.g. off-roading, driving under adverse conditions, etc).... A lot of people aspire to have such freedoms too. There is a stereotype that a typical Jeep owner is a more "rugged" individual..

My point is that when you place limitations of food, drink, smoking, etc...it contradicts the average perception people have about you and your vehicle. When you challenge these people to refrain, they may become defensive too which further complicates the social akwardness.

Bottom line, it's your vehicle and you have the right to manage it any way you want. Be proactive (not reactive) to people and let them know your boundaries and expectations before they climb in. After a while, they will assimilate to your style and you won't have any more issues.

For kicks, I'd get one of those "No smoking, eating or drinking" signs and glue it to your passenger air bag.....

I smoke eat and drink in my jeep but I still keep the inside very clean. The one thing I hate the most is when a passenger farts in my seats.
