Cold headlights won't come on

Last winter the headlights on my 97 Wrangler sometimes did not come on in the mornings, but would light after warming up. Now that the cold weather is back, its doing it again, but more frequently.

Anyone suggest a cause and a fix?

Thanks,
Newb

hhmmm maybe something in the relay gets stuck when its cold out?
maybe connect straight form the battery to the lights to rule out the lights
and then test the voltage from the battery to right before the relay or fuse, could be either one, but sounds like the relay is getting stuck

btw i dont know if u know what a relay is, but if not, it is what turns the lights on, the switch in the cabin has very low amperage and when it is turned on it turns the relay on so the high amperage doesnt have to go a longer distance, and also doesnt have to go into the cabin

Thanks debruins, but I already checked that. No true relay in the power distribution center, just a 30A fuse.

well then maybe you should just replace all the wiring and put in a relay and the problem may go away?

I have a 98 jeep wrangler sport and it does the same thing.. you have to wait 5-10 minutes until it warms up before the headlights come on, but only when it gets real cold.
