Was that a trail rated badge on the Liberty?

That sucks. Why did the jeep wrangler make it through? Because he drove smart and...

ITS A JEEP

I'm still trying to figure out why the white pstroke stopped?

Excellent driver training film right there. You can't steer on ice if your brakes are locked up

Seems strange to me but did any of these cars have chains? If you live in that climate wouldn't you carry some chains? And why do people continue to attempt this road when they can easily see some of the carnage along the way, with no chains!

Saw this video elsewhere already via Stumble... It amazes me that every single car that started to slide locked their brakes up. Also I liked the F-250 who assumed he could get up there and would have no problems seeing as he had a truck. Doesn't Colorado allow studded tires? Or Chains?

That must be the must helpless feeling in the world.
The whole thing sucks, but I have to say, I did giggle when he asked the guy "this your car?"
""YYYYYEEEEAAHHHHHH!"

While Chains are allowed in Colorado.. I'm not sure that they can be used on all roads during and through out the winter. Something to do with damaging the road.. In NYS there not allowed at all anywhere at anytime on public town, city, county, or Highway roads

Just finished watching through that video

Jeep TJ - 1 (made it look easy)
Almost everyone else - Fail*

* Saw some others looked like they made it.. The green truck was the only guy going down and he looked like he made it.. Some others going up looked like they succeeded as well..

Chains and studded tires are allowed in Colorado. We just don't believe we ever need them. It's a thing. They keep saying they're going to enforce the chain laws on the passes, but they never seem to actually do it.

But in fairness, we usually don't get really icy conditions. We usually get freeze dried snow that crackles under you, and gives pretty decent traction. It's not like the ice storms they get in seattle or portland. Usually.

Good snow tires are worth more than 4 wheel drive sometimes.

And I know we're all Jeep lovers, but there's a reason you didn't see any Suburus in this short video: they were all already at the top of the hill, and long gone.

On TV they kept showing film of a loader in NYC that got next to a car and kept banging into it. Everytime he tried to pull away from it, there was enough super in the street to suck him right back into it. If he had been chained up, he could have moved some snow instead of looking helpless. Maybe the mayor saw the pics

*wrist slap*

Actually almost bought one of their AWD wagons instead of the JK. Knew a bunch of people in college and from CO who had them. In the end, I figured the Jeep would do better in a monster snowstorm with the higher ground clearance...plus the Jeep was cheaper new and admittedly looks a bit cooler IMHO.

The real pipe dream was a WRX, but that would have ended with me around a tree somewhere I think

Gotta love the official state car of Colorado.

I just watched this on my iPhone and is that a hill they're all going up? I can't even tell. Is that why they are sliding back down? And I watched it with no audio...

Ya, it doesn't look like much of a hill in the video, but it obviously is. Dude, when you can listen to the audio do it. The guy filming is hillarious!!! Plus you can hear the cars & truck smashing into oneanother.
