Coming Soon to Northern VA

For those in the Northern VA area, there will be off road trails opening soon near the Potomac Mills Commuter Lot off of I-395. It is a 180+ acres of private property. Trails are being set up (I think most of the trails are done) and marked, and ATV rentals may also be available (courtesy of Coleman Powersports). Details are still being worked on. The place, I think, is called "Camp Red Cloud," (not to be confused with the Army's Camp Red Cloud in South Korea).

They are also planning on opening an off road parts store called "Pathfinder" in Lorton, VA (same owners), specializing in Wrangler parts (Rugged Ridge, Smittybuilt, Best Top, etc). They also plan to do installations on most parts (I had my Rugged Ridge high mount snorkel installed there and the guy did an excellent job...I was one of several test subjects there).

No details on either yet, as they are still working out the details and they want both operational soon.

More to come.........

I stand corrected...It's at Prince William Pkwy and I-95 (I-395 is inside the Beltway). You can actually see the property from I-95 to the west.

I've only been on the property once, before most of the the trails were completed.

The property is not new, just never used. People were already trespassing to go off roading anyway, so the owner decide to make some use out of it since he is a big Jeeper too. Plus, now he doesn't have to go out far to go offroading.

this could be pretty cool. A little small, but the potential to be fun is definiatly there.

Yup, lots of fun! It was my first time wheeling, and it was a great run through the woods. I absolutely would like to go again. Lots of elevation change, and running around trees. It has a few decent hills (60% grade) And some fun decents. I highly recommend doing the Xmitter Trail. Here is a pic of me in the middle of Xmitter

"not open to the public" just means you cant just go out on a tuesday and wheel around. go to Red Cloud Off Road | RCOR and check their calendar. i think they are open pretty much every weekend. you just pay online then go to the park. you used to have to stop at their tactical store before your first run, but i think they did away with that. all instructions are on the site.
