Computer Scanner / Readers

Can anyone suggest a good scanner / reader. I would like something that will be able scan and reset the computer. I just recently had the check engine light come on and I want to do my own work on my TJ.

there are some inexpensive units available, look into actron. you can get one that reads, and clears only for under $100, for under $200 you can get one that does that, and shows obd 2 readiness monitors, which will help especially when trying to pass emissions tests.
around here autozone will scan codes for free. good luck

It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president."

i've got an INNOVA model that my father in law bought me from kragens......... it's F**king AWESOME.. and it comes with all the other OBD 1 connections as well....... which works for me because i drive a tow truck and it helps at times to know what's goin on code wise before i spend 30 minutes trying to get the damn thing running......

Go for the better than basic scanner, I have had an acctron for about 4+ years and bought it when they were about $150, it's paid for itself over and over. It also is worth its weight in gold just for the 'sweating it' factor, the relief from being able to plug in the thing when the CEL comes on on a late nite just to be sure it's nothing bad is priceless.
The other thing you might want to look at is this one, thats my next buy, actually 3 or 4 of them, one for each jeep.
