Converting 14-bolt rear from drums to discs. . .how to remove the drums?

Hey guys,

I'm having a little trouble here. . .I've ordered the disc brake adapter brackets for our 14-bolt rearend but now that I'm prepping the assembly for when they show up I'm not sure how to get the drum brakes off.

I've looked at it I'm thinking that it might not have been as straight forward as I thought it was gonna be. I pulled the axle out of one side thinking that I would be able to remove the drums after that, but I'm guessing they are pressed in or I'm gonna need a special tool to remove the drums.

Anybody help me out here?

just pull the hub off and knock out the studs

Nope. . .doesn't work that way. You have to remove the nut with the special socket to get the hub off of the axle.

of course the hubs held on by a spindle nut

Got the hubs/drums off, degreased and ready for painting.
