Converting the Jeep haters.

So when I first purchased my Jeep everyone liked it and enjoyed it except for my Dad. He kept telling me to take it back and get something else.

A few months ago I traded cars for a road trip to save gas and my Dad used my Jeep. When I got back he told me he ended up going on a hunting trip and loved driving it and but would not admit it. A week ago he borrowed it again and same thing loved it but would not admit but started talking to me about all the mods he wants me to do to it haha.

I love the fact that even when someone hates on any Jeep until they ride one.

this happen to anyone else?

That has not happened to me yet but is awesome. I have heard many similar stories about haters without knowing anything of wranglers or without having driven one. Then they finally do drive one and love it.
the haters!

My wife was like this when I bought mine. She stated it was not practical and not family friendly. I informed her it may not be practical for her but it's perfect for me and as far as family friendly, just wait until the kids ride in it top down.

The day after I bought it the kids begged her to take them to school in it and she has "softened" he position. She loves it now, to a point, as long as it doesn't mess her hair. I'm still working on her about it.

Due to insurance issues my mother and I traded cars for awhile. I got her new Accord and she drove my Tj. When the time came to trade back I was Jeep deprived and she was hell bent with power, she didn't want to go back to her Honda. She told me all about the Jeeps that will wave to her and those a-holes that don't. She said she took all her friends out for a drive in it with the top down and such and they loved it. Long story short she wants a Wrangler now and my dads all for it but heres the issue; he wants her to have a four door and she won't go for it, she wants a Tj just like mine. The compromise, as of right now, is to get an old Tj to have as a back up for the family.

Good story. Is Dad willing to come up with the coin for the mods? I mean Christmas and all

My old man said this when I bought my jeep..

"That Jeep probably gets 4 yards to the gallon and It looks like the product of a brick and chuckwagon that screwed out of boredom"

Fast forward a year later and he asks me if he can drive it all the time because "I like to scare all the blue haired ladies"

my dad leased a red 97 before we got my sahara.. so hes always liked the wranglers.. but he would NEVER let me lift mine..

then when i did he got pissed at me.. his buddies that worked at chrysler with him agreed with me lifting it and doing the mods for it.. now hes wanting me to finish my jeep off, hes also trying to get me to let his buddy 'fix' it for me.. i know EXACTLY whats wrong with it.. just dont have the time to do it..

I knew 2 guys that had Jeeps before I bought mine. I didn't even want a Jeep to be honest. I had test drive a VW GTI MkV, then a Dodge SRT-4. After driving another car, I found a lifted 06 TJ at the dealership and decided to get it. Since then, my buds and I have helped a few of our friends buy or look at Jeeps. One bought a 98 TJ, another is trying to buy a YJ or a TJ. My bud Chris bought a '10 JK, and the friend with the 98 even convinced his neighbors to buy a TJ for their daughter's first car. I myself used to be iffy on Jeeps, and since buying one I love them. Success I'd say?

Oh i forgot to mention my friend is now a complete jeep dork and is obsessed with them almost as much as me, he said that he has never felt more capable inside of any other car than he does in a jeep

When Dad and I were going to check out my Jeep, prior to purchasing it, we're driving down the street as I'm trying to remember exactly where the place was. The sun emerged from behind the big cloud, and shined on the road ahead. "There it is!". He says, "Oh no, not that PINK one!!" (it's a Bright Mango YJ Rio Grande).

He hasn't started wanting his own yet, but mine has grown on him. 12 years and over 100K miles later, she's still going strong!

It's bad enough when the uninitiated bash the Jeep, but when other Jeepers bash different models (looking at YOU JK haters), you kinda just learn to ignore the ignorance.
