Credit or Cash

What do you all use to buy jeep parts?

Cash. If I have to buy unnecessary upgrades on credit my priorities aren't right.

Credit - we buy everything we can with the card, and pay it right away. The card gives us points, and about once a year we cash them out for gift cards. It also lets us see where money is spent and gives some protection.

Credit but pay it off. Currently rebuilding my credit so I don't buy anything I don't have the money for.

Since I order most parts online, it's credit.

We buy a ton of stuff on credit and get air miles that we use for vacations. Pay off the cards monthly and it's no problem. We leave the 23rd of April for London for 10 days thanks to air miles.

Credit, for the above mentioned reasons. I pay my balances off every few months so I'm never more than a few thousand in debt and I only buy things that I'm sure I can pay off in 2-3 months.

Most of my parts shopping is done online, so it's difficult to insert currency into my router. I pay by credit and pay my statement in full each month.

I use a card for all my purchases; BUT I always deduct the amount of the purchase from my bank account when I make the purchase-- that way I always know exactly where I am, so I can always pay the card off each month. Then when I make the payment, I do not deduct that amount so my bank account comes out correct.

I save up the cash to buy whatever part(s) I'm wanting. Then I'll pay with a CC online. Then I drop the cash into the bank and pay the CC charges with that.

That said, I've just had some major repairs I didn't have cash for so it had to go on the CC. Not real happy about that when I was just about out of debt with the CC.

Same as above, CC but it is paid off 100% every single month. If you have a balance on a CC you need to quit spending.

I pay with a credit card because it is convenient, accepted at the merchants I buy from, and offers some buyer protection - but I only voluntarily use my CC when I have the equivalent cash to immediately pay the card. I would rather wait to get a mod for my YJ and save money by not paying a credit card company to borrow money from them. The build is much slower, but I am much happier without debt looming over my head.

I only use pure credit for those SHTF moments when I get hit with an unexpected expense for which I cannot take time to save up for, nor can I put off paying. Using credit appears to stretch your cash, but unless you pay off the balance before the purchase grace period ends, all you are doing is spending more money.

Cash is King.

Credit. I love my skymiles. I get to go on vacation once or twice a year, free of traveling (and sometimes lodging) costs. I pay my balance in full every month, so I don't buy what I can't pay for. Being broke cramps my style - wish I could mod like the rest of you!

In person I use cash, but anything online I us credit. I just don't run a balance each month, I make sure to pay it off in full.

I shop online, find what I'm looking for, from either Q-tec or 4wd, then call my friend that owns a jeep shop, and get it at his cost as a vendor, and then pay cash.

Have not used a Credit Card in 5 years. If I don't have cash in my account to use my Debit Card, the parts can wait. I worked for one of the largest Credit Card companies for 15 years...credit is pure evil!

Yes it is. I'm glad I caught onto this early, and only have one card with a low limit. If I were given a $10k card like a lot of my friends I would have a sick jeep that I couldnt afford to put gas in!

cash!
