dana 44?

98, sahara, 4in bl,

ok so what i gathered was that there are a couple of different dana rear ends. so the dana 44 have a medal outter casing and dana 35 have a rubber outer casing? from the pictures ive seen mine seems to be a dana 44 .. i have a posi trac rear end..are all dana rear ends posi???i tried looking for the 44 but the gas tank is in the way. i dont know if i have armor on the gas tank but it seems pretty large and bulky. im trying to figure out exactly what i have. newbie question, any info would be much appreciated . THANKS

You will likely do better posting this in the TJ group, but my 35 is all steel, no rubber.

dana 44 has a square metal fill plug in the diff cover
dana 35 has a round plastic fill plug in the diff cover

Just about all TJ's have a gas tank skid plate from the factory...

i figured out its a dana 44 rear.. thanks for the info.. i posted some pics in the tj forum cause i couldnt seem to find the upload button on my profile page if anyones interested..
