Dash question

I own a 2008 wrangler. And was wondering just how weather resistent the dash is. As far a water and moisture getting into the dash radio and electrical stuff.

it's pretty good. I've gotten rained on a few times with no top. it makes my radio act weird. changes channels by itself and stuff like that, but it always goes back to normal after a few hours in the sun.

some folks have had issues with the clockspring, and it will indeed screw up from water or frost, but my 07 has never had water manage to get into the steering column.

it's not a bad idea to get a trail cover. I tape a garbage bag over my radio if I get caught without a top. i might toss one over the steering wheel from now on too just to be safe.

I would love some feedback from the group on this one, as well. I am on my second TJ and it has been rained it several times without problems. However, I am a little paranoid about that issue, too.

I usually try to keep a towel/plastic in the jeep with me for this reason--and drape it across the dash to keep the majority of a heavy rain from going directly into the dash. I know it won't keep it all out, but helps somewhat.

From what I have read/been told previously, as long as it is not submerged in water--it does okay. I don't spray down the dash when I hose mine out, but it is built to withstand some moisture.

Thoughts from the "more seasoned" Jeepers?
