Dealer Deals on Wrangler Unlimiteds

Hi all -- new to forum and looking to buy my first Jeep. I'm shopping a Wrangler Unlimited and wanted feedback on two questions:

1) the trim I'm looking at is the Sahara but am interested in your thoughts on the other trims. . . and
2) wondering what type of dealer deals people are striking right now with gas prices at all time highs so I can negotiate the best possible net price.

Looking forward to your feedback and excited about the new adventure with the Jeep!

They are not dealing much on the Wranglers, since they get somewhat good gas mileage compared to some other SUV's (in more demand too). I've seen ads for $12,400 off MSRP for Grand Cherokees and over $8,000 off Commanders. The most off a Wrangler that I have seen advertised is $800.

With the gas prices, I was suprised I could not get a better deal on mine. I believe the sticker on mine was around $28,000. I went there half expecting them to want to give these tanks away. They came down to around 24,000. It is brand new.

I almost bought a used 2007 from another car lot. They wanted $24,000 for it and only came down to $21,000 and would NOT budge. Thats a BAD deal considering what I paid for a new one with like 2 miles on the odometer. Some of the things I remember it not having was 4x4 which I think should be standard on a jeep, side steps, the interior had a good bit of scratches on the driver's side door, and it had a good bit of mileage for an 07. I showed them the deal I was getting on a new one and offered them $16,000. Well, they didnt take it so I went directly to the jeep dealership and bought the one I have now and Im glad that I did. I really wanted this one more then the used 07 anway.

As far as trims go. I didnt know alot about jeeps prior to buying one. My x has alot of the cool options I saw in the sierra. Performance wise, at the time, the only big difference I heard about was the better axle that comes standard in sierra and rubies. I thought to myself that I dont plan on doing anything serious enough to blow out an axle. And if i did I would upgrade to a 12 bolt moser or a ford 9 anyway.
