Destin....what a vacation!!

Just got back from vacation. Destin was great!! 10 days of perfect weather. Now back to the real world. I'm going through reality shock.

Twenty-five years ago when we started going to Panama City Beach every year for Memorial Day, Destin was just a little town that you went through between Pensacola and Panama City. What a difference now!!! I still prefer to vacation In Panama City because it is a little further away from the outlet mall. My wife would break me if she could have easy access to that everyday!!! We are far enough away at PCB that we usually only go over for one day to Destin.

Yeah, Destin is awesome...but damn it's getting crowded. My wife and I went down and stayed at a friends condo over spring break (wife's a teacher).

Traffic was so bad between Ft. Walton and Destin one day that it took us 2 hours to get from the bridge to Destin Commons.

It's a little late now, but next time you head down that way you HAVE to drive over to Ft. Walton Beach for dinner one night. There is a restaurant called Staff's. It's a (relatively) little place back over the bridge away from the beach.

You've got to check it out next time you are down there.

Also, There is a restaurant at the Bayside Wharf. I forget the name of it, but they have the best steamed oysters in Destin and sweet potato fries that kick a$$.
Bayside is a gated community, but all you have to do is tell them you are going to the Wharf and they'll give you a day pass for free.
