Did you Know??

I've only been around for a couple of months and have learned a lot from some knowledgeable people (Thanks). So far this is what I have purchased.

5.5” RE Extreme Long Arm Kit
SYE & Rear Drive Shaft
35” Wrangler MTR’s (5)
Vi Air Portable Compressor 440P
75 Series CB
All the other misc. requirements
Most Recent Purchase Wilderness Bumper W/Tire Carrier.

Reason for the post:
I’ve noticed when shopping for my best deals that if you call your supplier that you can almost always get a better deal than if you just buy online. After asking some questions I found out that some of your BIG suppliers put a lot of pressure on the manufactures to have the prices stay consistent throughout the distributors. This is what I know for sure.

Rubicon Express & Garvin will not allow the distributors to advertise there prices below a certain amount. I found my Bumper for 729.00 and could not find it lower that 899.00 anywhere else. Well about a week later the website had been updated and the price is now 899.00 I called them up and they said they would be happy to honor that price. They explained the process to me and I thought I would share. I know most of the regular Jeepers already know this information I just thought it would be a good post for us new Jeepers.

What I was ultimately trying to get at was. Who ever you are buying from cannot always advertise the best price. So yes call in and tell the sales person what you are looking for, and ask what the best price is. Don’t be afraid to tell them that you know they cannot always advertise the best price.

Here is where I had my best success

4x4groupbuy.com (Rubicon Express)
ok4wd.com (Garvin / Wilderness Bumper)

I called 4x4groupbuy and I told the lady that I wanted to order some Rubicon Express Mono tube shocks and she automatically said they were 239.00 and there web site said they were 299.00 she then informed me about the price limits the manufactures imposes. If I were to buy these online I would have paid 299.00 not knowing I could have saved money.

"It's a conspiacy, man! The off road companies got a grip on the websites! They're feedin' us a bunch of lies, man."

Great information indeed i'll be on the phone more now.

I've actually found the Wilderness ATS rear bumper for $660 at Rusty's

But its like this everwhere... not just 4-wheel sites. If you browse around AMazon, you see "Click Here To See Our Lowest Price" The manufacturers just don't want a price that is so much more lower than the MSRP to be displayed so you have to "ask for it".

What you are running into is called MAP Manufacturers Advertised Pricing. This is not always the lowest price they can sell out, however is the lowest price they can advertise. This is why a lot of companies products you will have to email for pricing or call for pricing.

That's why I stay local with my purchases unless I absolutely have to buy online.

Edit: I'm also going to move your post to the general section for all to see.
