Dirty engine?

I've been wanting to clean my engine because it's full of dust and little mud here and there. I want to use the high pressure washer but I don't know if that would hurt the engine?

Stay away from the throttle body sensors, and the coil pack or the distributor if you have one. And put a cup over the air box snorkel or stuff a rag in it. Hose away

1) Use a garden hose with normal water pressure.
2) Spray down engine (except alternator and battery).
3) Follow up with a spray of simple green.
4) Wait a few minutes and hose off.
