Do Ground Wires Need To Be On BARE Metal?

Hey guys, since I'm new to modifications on vehicles, I don't really feel to comfortable with all the electricity parts... I would like to put por15 over my frame, and bed liner on my tub, but if grounds need to be on bare metal, where would I connect them to? Would I have to sand down the tub or frame to bare metal in some places to put the ground in? Also, ignoring what I put over the metal, where is the best place to attach a ground to? The frame? Thanks!

short answer, yes. if you don't have the ground connected directly to the bare metal, there will be increased resistance in the return path. you may find that it works like this, but you also will probably get unreliable behavior from your electronics. this can cause a host of issues like rough idle and what some may call electrical gremlins. a good ground connection is key to the electrical system.

can't you tape off the ground connections before spraying? the best places for grounds are usually where the factory put them. hope that helps.

Like said above. Tape a nickel or washer over your ground locations. Por15 is great stuff. By by rust forever.
