Do not Buy SmittyBilt. Make this a sticky please!

I am disgusted with SmittyBilt. If you buy their product be prepared for poor fitment, poor quality, poor communication and poor customer service.

SRC Rock Guards- Did not fit. Hit side of Jeep.Vendor replaced this product, it took Smittybilt 3 weeks to send replacement.

XRC Rock Sliders- Smittybilt substituted this product for the SRC Rock Guards without asking me.. They do not fit well either, but at least wont hit my paint backing out of driveway. Still waiting 10 days later for the missing bolt kit they were supposed to send.

JKU Extended top. Just does not fit for crap.. called customer service, they said " Yah, we know. You will have to rig it up yourself."

more than once I've heard the smittybilt horror stories.

As for me, I bought their windshield light mount and its worked as advertised. But I guess its hard to mess up a simple thing like a light mount.

The going consensus is, only buy small simple things from smittybilt

Motohead, I would suggest checking out some of Ace engineering's products if you are looking for rock sliders. They look somewhat similar to the sh..smittybilt products you were looking at.

The price is roughly the same and you get some amazing quality for the price.

On the other hand, I've heard a lot of positives about Ace Engineerings. Haven't done business with them yet, but from what I've heard, they stand by their products and provide great service.

Shittybilt products are made in China. Were you really expecting a quality product from China?

ACE products are made in the USA. Search for ACE's reputation.

They've worked less than hard to earn that nickname, too. Maybe 3 of 10 people have good luck with their garbage. Even the name, "Smittybilt," sounds cheap.

I really do not care what name is on the box as long as it fits, works as advertised, and if there is a problem customer service gives a crap and does something. 4 products in my garage from them. 4 products that have serious fitment issues. I am a farm raised, educated, business owning off road enthusiast. I understand cutting, welding and drilling on something to make it work. This junk is just flat out bad. Either they did not do enough R/D or the jigs are out of whack. Part of the problem is that they are trying to use one product to cover a model year range that the vehicle in question has had some changes over its life cycle.

If it was just drilling out a bolt hole and putting some washers behind something it would have been done long ago. When there is a 1 inch variation in 5 feet in the distance between 2 tubes that should run parallel and the angle of a brace is off 15 degrees putting the tube out of the axis it should be on, there is a problem.

When they say it fits 07-12 on the box and in the advertising, but when you call customer service and they tell you they know it doesn't really fit and you have to rig it up/ modify it yourself, I call that BS.

My point of this thread was to give some guys a heads up before they had $800 of useless junk in their garage like I do. My intention is be helpful, as I have appreciated others input and warnings on this forum.

The only smittybilt item I have from them is GEAR tailgate cover. It's basically a bag so they can't really screw that up lol. I could say this though, If the founder of smittybilt was still alive, he would definitely be shaking his head. Moral of the story.. Don't let your greedy kids take over your business. Oh wait, my dad is giving me his business LOL

As with everything, there's probably a good reason why people swear by Savvy/Currie.

Sorry it ticks you off that people bash on Shittybilt. Maybe after receiving your Shittybilt product, you'll find yourself not so ticked off.

It's hit ir miss with them. Sometimes parts fit perfect and are put together well and other times it's crap. Not real sure about there quality control process or even if they have one.

They DON'T have "control on quality," hence the reason some parts fit and others don't.

The only way Shittybilt stays in business is because some people worry about value over quality, but never do they realize they wind up spending more in the long run because they have to replace those shoddy parts with something else. Buy the good stuff and you're only buying it ONCE.

People are impatient and want things now, now, now. Nobody actually wants to save their money and wait.
