How do I get a key made for a door that came without a key?

Go to a lock smith and tell them you need a key made for a door that you lost the key to.

Pull the door panel off, then slid the e-clip from the lock cylinder and remove the linkage rod, then slide the cylinder keeper/clip away to one side and remove the lock cylinder from the door. Take this lock cylinder to a locksmith and have him key it to fit your ignition key. It's real easy and simple to do, shouldn't take you just a couple of minutes to do this. I did it last week on two TJ half doors that were given to me.

I have full metal doors.
I recently bought 2 half doors.

A local locksmith told me that, if I brought in MY door lock cylinders, he would re-key them for $25 each, & that the cylinders would work with my existing keys.

It may be less convient but probably cheaper to take one lock to the locksmith and have him make a seperate key for the doors, unless you absolutely have to have just one key for everything.

I don't know about it being cheaper.
I can't imagine the locksmith doing it for much less than $25. (That's what he will charge me to make each lock cylinder lock & unlock to my original keys.)

To rekey a lock cylinder = $25.00 x2cylinders = $50.00

To make a key from 1 lock cylinder = $25.00

I know that PULLING the lock cylinder is pretty simple. It's just a matter of getting to the cylinders, remembering which one is the left door or right door, and remembering how the linkage goes back on. When I pull mine in the next couple of days, I think I'm going to use a sharpie permanent marker, and put a "L" & a "R" on the cylinders so that when I get them back from the locksmith, there will be no doubt as to which one goes into which door.

Just make sure you take plenty of pictures of the linkage setup.

Yep, break them down and rekey them yourself, course you still have to get the lock pins from a locksmith.

Cool.
I'll check it out.

How much do you figure it'll cost for a set of pins?

Update -

I went on and let a locksmith rekey my locks.
As promised, he completed the job in about an hour.

I realized today that I kind of wasted $50, having my half-doors re-keyed. While I DO like the fact that all locks are keyed to the same key, and the person that sold me the half-doors no longer has a key that will unlock the doors, it was really a waste of $50. I don't plan on really "locking" the half-doors. I mean really, what's the point in locking them? I you want anything inside that I have in my jeep, a locked door, with a thin sheet of plastic isn't going to stop you from getting in, if you're determined to get in. Locking the half-doors really just kinda guarantees that, if you really want in, my jeep is going to get damaged in the process. I bought those doors, with the intention of running them in the warm weather, WITHOUT the uppers on them. I'll always carry the uppers with the jeep, if the 1/2 doors are on, but, unless it's starting to rain, the uppers will never go onto the doors. I guess that $50 spent is just peace of mind that no one else has a key that will unlock my doors.

my buddy told me a trick on the soft doors to prevent theft.
disconnect the inside slider lock linkage, then lock the doors with the key.
then doors cant be unlocked without key

Do you really think a piece of thin glass is going to stop them if they really want to get in? Everyone that I know on here who has had their Jeep stolen, did not have an alarm, or more ridiculous, did not use it.

Jeep Wrangler's are such popular vehicles it makes no sense, not to have an alarm on it. IMHO

Think about that a bit.

Soft doors / soft top, you really don't have to open the door if you want in to steal something.
