I knew there was a "wave" for jeep owners!!! My fiancé and I were riding around in my jeep and another keeper waved at me. I didn't wave back because I didn't know I was suppose to but then another keeper waved. I told my fiancé "I think jeep owners have a wave just like bikers". He made fun of me and said No! I can't wait to show him this post and prove to him that I was right!!!

can you tell we are excited about owning a jeep.

You may not get a wave back. They may be too busy trying to figure out how you got 8 people in a Jeep, or are thinking who the heck is holding the steering wheel?

Me, I grew up in the farm country, where you always waived as most likely it was a neighbor passing by. Just carried it on from there.

Now it's either a wave or a thumbs up be it a Jeep or just a nice looking rod.

I'm a new jeeper in a JK who also happens to be a mom. I learned about the wave when another jeeper (in an older model-not sure which model) waved at me. By the time I saw it he'd passed and I threw the wave out anyway. Hopefully he saw and didn't think I was clueless. But I wave every chance I get. I'm always on the lookout for jeeps (kinda dangerous when I should keep my eyes on the road, lol!) to make sure I wave. Sometimes I get a wave back sometimes I don't. But it doesn't matter, I will wave.
It's kind of difficult, though, because I wonder if those that don't wave, do they think less of my jeep cuz it's a JK. I've read plenty of posts on here dissin the JK. On one hand it's supposed to be a community of wranglers, jeeps, cjs, tjs, yjs, etc, but it's kind of hypocritical when the JK-ers are thought of as the "red-headed step children". I love this forum and enjoy reading a lot of the info on here, and have gotten a lot of great advice, however, the negativity against the JKs has kind of tainted it for me though. I've loved jeeps (specifically the wranglers) for a long time, didn't matter which model it was-I love them. And I'm over the moon about my JK! I would think it didn't matter which model you had, it is a jeep regardless what letters you have. Isn't that the important part?

Didn't mean to vent, I'm just proud to finally be a jeep (wrangler) owner. To those who don't care for the JKs, please don't take my joy. 

I am appologising for all the non-returned waves while my wife is driving. This is our first Jeep and I'm doing my best to train her. My first wave was the day we were on our test drive.

I either wave or give a peace sign. Sometimes I worry that when I give a peace sign that the view is sideways looking like one finger up. :-s
Just so everyone knows, I'm not giving you the finger. :-)

new here

Hi All,

I am a new Wrangler owner and I thought this would be a good place to say "hi" and give my wave .

I recently purchased a '99 Wrangler SE. It is a basic 4 banger w/ a 5 speed, but I love it so far. It is VERY stock and basic, but that is what I wanted so I have a clean slate. So far I have only gotten a good tune up and all fluids changed. I have sound bar from eBay sitting on the floor ready to put in (once I figure it out) and a set of rear seat belts to use once I find a nice used rear seat.

I am looking forward to becoming a part of this community and learning as much as I can.

Im not new to my jeep, it's 2000 Jeep Wrangler, chrome bumpers, big tirers(dont remember the size. Idr if it's been lifted, probably has. It's black with chrome side steps. 4 banger 5 speed. It's been through a lot. Currently needs repairs to the A/c only blows cold air when she wants to. It's been up hills and through water. Only problem is the ac, oh and the windshield. I love my Jeep, but I wouldn't mind a newer one. ::wave::

I have had my Jeep for 3 months now. The Salesman told me about "The Wave" when I bought it. I wave to every Wrangler, that I see, even across highway medians. Almost all of them will return return a wave. Although, I have noticed that most (not all) women don't wave back.

I wave even across highway medians too. Lol. No clue if they wave back tho.
I'm a woman and I wave all the time. My husband thought I was weird waving but when he saw they'd wave back he started getting used to it.

I found this website called www.jeepwave.com. They sell clear vinyl stickers with the outline of a hand and under it it says JEEP WAVE. Kinda neat. I may order one.

Thanks for the warm wishes everyone. I will post a pic shortly as soon as I get them off my phone. I have several issues with the Jeep that I need to get fixed and I hope that I can use this forum's knowledge to help me diagnose the issues.

I just got back from a 2.5 hour trip each way across FL. I passed many Jeeps, but didn't get a single wave that I could see. Most Wranglers in FL have tinted windows, so perhaps that had something to do with it.

Do you guys just wave at Wrangler owners or all Jeeps?

Take care.

I just wave now. And if they don't wave then w/e. But I don't like the new jk. As years are going by the jeeps seem to get more "airo" Like cars when I first saw one it looked dumb. I'm sorry but I don't like em,

It's cool. You don't have to like it. To each his own. At least its a Jeep. It's still got all of the awesomeness, just new looks and a few minor add ons. Things change. Fortunately for you, you have yourself an older model.

Anyone else ever find themselves driving a different vehicle and still waving at all the Jeeps? It has become instinctive.

I do get offended though when I wave at a fellow Jeeper and get nothing in return, or a dirty look

vrom what i have notice here in Northern VA is that all the guys wave back no matter what. however about 75% of the women who are driving a wrangler dont wave because they are too busy texting or on the phone.. ridiculous!
