Didn't know about the wave (just bought my first wrangler this past Friday). Is suppose to be a cool hand up type thing, a Forrest Gump type wave, or an wild excited wave? Gotta make sure I get it right.\

I've learned that it depends on the situation. If my top/windows are up, I just lift my fingers up from the steering wheel. If windows/top down I give a wave outside the window. Not a crazy wave just put the hand up. Some people have said they put up a peace sign, too. It's whatever you feel comfortable with.

Oh and welcome to the forum!

I wave at Jeeps when I'm in my 01 wrangler, but in the 2011 Liberty, I wave and most of them look at me like I'm an idiot, the rest recognize my face and wave back, in my City Truck (2011 Chevy 3500HD) when I wave at a Jeep most all of them know who it is and wave back, along with the Patriot Guard here locally, I wave at them and they wave back too, they have my truck number on file as a friend also

Yeah down here in Austin,TX i get waves from all the CJ'S YJ'S TJ'S but yeah i never get waves from the JK clan. I try to wave to them but honestly 90%of JK'ers down here are rich dumb kids who mommy and daddy have paid everything in their life for them and they dont respect a single thing they own so i really dont like waving to them anyways, and i bet hard money the closest thing they get to going off road is when they accidentally pop the curb here and there

You can't blame the absence of a return wave on the jeep model -- it's the driver.

I've had more luck with waves from the JK's than the older models.

I had a Liberty over 6 years and got waved at only a small handful of times and never paid any attention, just waved back. Now that I got my Wrangler, I get waves from everybody in a Jeep. It's awesome haha. I feel like I've joined a cult.

I have been on a back road and when I saw an old cj, (I drive a tj) we slowed and hi fived! Yea! Anyways I tried once not waving and I felt weird. I use to do the hand out the window but I look so dumb cause half the jeepers don't wave so
I do the two fingers from the steering wheel,

it was a sad day for me today i just recently got my jeep and its been a long time coming i finnally have one. i was in the turning lane when another jeep past right in front of me. i gave a proud wave and saw a girl about 20 years old look at me in disgust like i was hitting on her. i really wanted to chase her down like a big weirdo just to tell her i not some creep hitting on her its a jeep thing. she probaly would have pepper spray so i decided against it. i live near the chicagoland area and im not seeing any wave backs ive had one wave since i got the jeep and it felt great but none since then.

You south Florida Jeepers need to get your wave on.... I get very few and far between in return. Is it because I am rocking a stock TJ?

WOW They wouldnt wave but they told you all that?
I've got a JK and I wave, sometimes Just a cool hands up, sometimes a peace sign, and yes even a forest gump every now and then.
I havent had it in extreme off road yet but I have had it out in the desserts at carlsbad. Still have my little street tires it came with though.

Well thats good, at least you do, i havent had much luck with the jk owners down here. But i am glad to see there are some out there who have thier heads on strait. A jeeps a jeep, they should wave to all.

Here in Henry County Georgia you get a wave back about 85% of the time. Notice that alot of the Jeep women don't wave back. Don't know whats up with that haha

In the outskirts of the city I get more waves than I do in the city. When my boyfriend drives it I told him the requirement is he must wave back! Lol

Just want to say that after a 7 yr absence from the jeep world, the wave was one of the little things that brought a smile to my face, but have to admit, most folks don't respond, or offer.

Mmhmm. And if you're topless and doorless in the pouring rain, you're obligated to lean out of the cab sideways and sling your arm around like a maniac. Goofy-ass all teeth grin optional.

That's how I feel, I noticed the waves are very geographical, in the big city, I get very few waves, but when I get into "Jeep country" (2-3+ hours north of Toronto for me..) EVERYONE waves.

When a see a wrangler owner look at me startled because I waved (only happens in the city) I always feel sorry for them, like they are missing something and they don't even know it. They aren't part of the offroading/Jeep driving "cult". It's like they got sold a vehicle, and weren't notified of it's features.

Well, I wave at really nice Jeeps even though I don't have one, simply because they are cool. I wished that the TJs were available in a 4-door model, though...

Guess I'm part of the other 10%, if I see your wrangler running around NW Austin, I'll give you the wave, up to you to respond. Just because we have a JK doesn't mean we don't have years in Jeeps, just means we could afford a new one.

To bad about Toronto... had waves down on Front/Spadina though... despite the crazy pedestrians :P

Burlington, Guelph and London get a lot of waves though

Well I'm really starting to hate these new jk's. So I was driving home and there was a jk like 4 cars up, then a jk pulled out in front of me. I had to go from 50mph down to 35 to avoid running in the back of it, she's kept driving even with the slow van next to her. Going slow and not paying attention. Well when the van turned I floored it and she looked at me like I was stupid, well, SHE was on the phone, and so was the other one! Both girls on the phone, they really pissed me off, I was this close to getting on my pa and telling both of them to hang the f**king phone, but i let it go because I forgot I was in viera, the rich bit** city in the area,

I had a bumper sticker on my old Chevy Truck that said hang the F*** up and drive, I want one on my Jeep that says stop F**ing texting and F**ing drive. But I've been told that if I do that I can't drive my Jeep to work anymore.

I wave -- its the same for motorcyclist -- they are a "culture."
But I don't wave unless its a WRANGLER -- not a liberty or cherokee, the doors/roof has got to be able to come off!
