But I don't wave unless its a WRANGLER -- not a liberty or cherokee, the doors/roof has got to be able to come off!

What if you cut the roof off and take the doors off? No go?

I've only had my jeep (JK) for a couple months and I didn't know about the wave at first. It didn't take long to figure it out though lol. I wave at every jeep I see. I have noticed that I get a lot of crazy looks unless I have the top and doors off, but when they are off I normally get a wave back unless it's a woman

Hey now... I'm a woman and I wave at them all. But your right, most of the time I never get a wave back from a woman. Grr.

I waved at a Jeep full of girls today and got called a old pervert LOL I informed then that the wave is a Jeep thing. the driver said she didn't know and had just gotten her license. So I told her to only wave at Jeeps, she said "which ones" I said all Wranglers, YJ's CJ's MB's and JK's , the rest of the Jeep vehicles are optional, she said thanks

Urokia--- Even when you do encounter problems with your Jeep, you will still love it.
I have an 81 CJ5 that needs the motor rebuilt and a 94 Wrangler that I just took the tranny out of and still love 'em both. Wouldn't trade them for nothing.

Jeep Wave

I come from a long line of Jeepers. I get about 75-80% waves from TJ's and JK's alike.

I did not know that Jeepers 'wave' like bikers do. I learned to wave when I took a Harley riding course. I wave to all motor-bikers when riding (please note that some Harley riders will wave only to genuine Harley bikes).

Historically, armored knights on horseback when approached by another knight bearing the same coat of arms, both knights would raise their helmets' visors to reveal their identities to each other. The lifting of the visor was transformed into a salute, employing a similar motion of the arm/hand.

I think that the problem with salesmen today is that they have limited knowledge about the products they sell and it would be nice if they the extra mile to educate themselves in the first place in order to pass knowledge to buyers.

Me too! Almost seems like those that don't wave are kinda stuck up. Or maybe they're just clueless.

Hopefully picking up my new JKU tomorrow...I wasn't aware of a Jeep wave so I am glad I happend upon this. First time I rode my Harley and folks waved I was like "do I know those people?" It was great though having a brotherhood so to speak.

I learned about the Jeep wave from a friend of mine. Heck, the wave is part of the reason I'm getting ready to order a Jeep!

After a few experimental waves in my Thing, I stopped. Most waved back. I have noticed, especially with doorless Wranglers, some will initiate the wave to me! I quickly recover from being startled and wave back. I know a Thing looks Jeep-like, especially with the doors off as well, but it makes me wonder if they think I am really in an old-timey Jeep. I would think that the lack of the grille would give it away. Oh well, quick wave back never hurts.

I'm glad I found this thread. I pass a lot of other wranglers and not many wave. I have a bike and a GTO, waving comes natural for me. Hope more people read about it!!

I missed waving at one today I was looking at the idiot in the lane next to me feeding her baby in the back seat while texting and steering with her foot as she slammed the car in front of her

Wow. . .how many times has this happened to you? I needed to move some stuff so I borrowed the 'rents' minivan for an afternoon, but instinctually I keep waving at other Wranglers thinking I am still in mine. I got a lot of confused looks that day . . .

Today I saw a woman driving a new JK and I waved (Even initiated despite the fact that my Jeep scores more "points")...she looked at me and just drove by...I wanted to flip her off, I was so pissed.

Instead I just put my hands up like wtf? Do they think I'm waving at them?!? Because I sure as heck was waving at her WRANGLER.

hmmm...then why were you pissed when she didn't wave back?

lol

It's annoying when the clueless don't wave back but I can't say I get pissed.

I have had my jk for over a month and knew about the wave. I wish I would have counted the number of waves I have thrown out there with nothing in return. Honestly I can count the number of waves back on one hand. I have just about gotten to the point where I dont wave anymore. It is pretty sad around here.
