LOL!! Yeh, I've been a fireman for over ten years now. Do you dispatch for Cumberland or the City? Need another t-shirt? Lol.

Im on my 4th jeep. The one I have now is a JK and I wave at all fellow Jeep drivers. In the snobby area I live in all the folks here have the highend 4dr models and they do not wave back. I should start a non profit Jeep wave education foundation,

I've had my 2011 4dr for 2 weeks and I wave @ every wrangler. I get wave backs almost every time. I go with the full open hand wave.

I do. I'm reading it now, and I learned some interesting things about my new LJ - how the rear seat comes out, where to find the tire pressure information, Trac-Lok rear axle, etc.

Those that do bought it because they love jeeps.

At least its a guess.

It's all of it for me. It's the practical aspect of having the LJ, the tradition behind the Jeep, whether military or the Jeep Jamborees of yesteryear in black and white film, my history as a country girl, the simplicity, and I love mine.

Yes, I actually pay attention to my mileage. I'll record my mileage from refill to first light beep on the dash and do it over. I want to see what I actually get, since I'm learning how to maximize my gas mileage.

I know what you mean! I thought it was me -- noticing this! I just got my Jeep but grew up with them-- and I wave. Not many in my area seem to know to wave-- but on vacation everyone waved on cape cod.

What's up with the new jeeps with really big rims? I have one in my neighborhood, and he waves but he has more rim then tire?

disappointed

For WV to be such a "friendly, down to earth" state, I am so disappointed in the amount of waves that I get. Every other vehicle here is a Jeep - and about 75% of them are Wranglers. I wave at EVERY single one I see (even tempted to wave when I'm in my Z lol) and I get some of the stupidest looks from people - like they just don't get it! I knew about the wave from the moment I climbed into my JK - it was just a natural "instinct". And when I was driving it home from OH that first day, I did get a few waves But here, I have only had about 6 in the entire 10 months that I've been driving it. My son and I have decided to make some "get with the wave" fliers to put on every Wrangler windshield we see parked. Maybe that will get them waving

In the UK Wranglers are so few and far between, you don't just get the wave, you get the full jaw drop and car weaving all over the road in surprise.
So far it's happened about 4 or 5 times to me. One guy even did a 180, caught me up and said hello

Putting it in the owners manual is a great idea, how about having a tag that hangs from the rearview mirror (Put on by the dealer or manufacture when you purchase the vechicle) which explaint "the Wave" you can remove it when you drive off the lot but at least it would get the idea accross. I did not now about the wave until my daughter told me about it.

Took a new JK out for a test drive last week, and passed another Jeep. Naturally, I waved...the salesman in the passenger's seat looked at me really strangely.

College students are back in town now. Gave out four waves and got 0 back. What are they teaching these kids in school now a days?

I know it's an old post, but that cracked me up.

I always wave... it seems like the farther I get outside the city the more wave-backs I get. When I'm out in the country, I get a wave unless the driver is obviously clueless (giant sunglasses, texting, Ed Hardy hat, etc). On city streets it's less than 50%. Although there is a guy who lives in my neighborhood someplace with a sweet lifted YJ who always waves, even if we're on opposite sides of the rotary.

I have a 2011, and it's my first Jeep, and I wave like crazy! It's like instinct! Most of the time I will flip the hang loose sign out the side. I generally always initiate, most of the time it's a simultaneous wave. I find that where I live, it's mostly the girls that ignore me. I don't find a difference in response depending on how old/what model it is...if I'm on the same side of the road and pass someone, I will stick my hand out the top or window, so they see me as I pass by if they aren't paying attention. =)

I'm a new Jeep owner and have heard of the wave. So I've started waving at every jeep I see. So far no reply. I figured that I have to be accepted into the local jeep community or something.

I saw this after whitemtn27 re-posted it and was laughing so hard that my wife came in to check on me....haha. Awesomeness!!! I'm putting this in my tagline and since groovy hasn't been active since last year, I don't think he'll mind too much.

Notta, if you own a Jeep period your in the club. Barbie can put out a plastic 6 volt battery run power wheel and she's even in.

Are you a JK? It's really hit or miss. I pretty much wave at every TJ and prior, but it's like I judge the JKs a little bit more, nothing personal...just trying to keep my confidence up after hundreds of non-wave backs and super weird stares from JK Owners. But, I still try to wave regardless.

^^^Since I have a JK, I ALWAYS wave and try to initiate. I figure I gotta do what I can to redeem the bad rep those of us that own new Jeeps have...plus I have always lived life by the mantra 'you get what you give', which is weird that Zac Brown Band named their last album that... =)

Then again, I drive military rigs into the ground so having a Jeep has already become second nature I'm just glad I don't have to wear a helmet to drive it. hahaha

Yes it's a JK. Maybe that's why I'm not feelin they love from other jeep owners.

I just got my first Jeep last night, a YJ. I did not know about "The Wave". I know the Harley riders have their own version of this. Is the Jeep wave performed in a certain fashion, or is it just more of a general acknowledgement?

I'm voting you wear the helmet while driving the Jeep also , just to see the looks you get back. At least thats my vote! Brain injury, extremely cautious offroader or just plain crazy??? Keep people on their toes, and probably get some waves...haha.

I'll try to wave at more JKs from now on.
