On the Harley I waved. On my Goldwing I wave. In my Magnum R/T I waved. In my JK I wave. I feel like a bird. I have probably waved to about 50 people in Wranglers. I think 3 waved back. Today a good looking lady waved back, she only used one finger.

I think the JK has a 'marketing flaw' that tends to perpetuate non-wavers. It took me a little while to learn the wave and most often those not waving back at me are in JKs. My theory on this is that it's the Wrangler that finally appeals to soccer moms and they are too busy reaching behind their seat to deal with their kids to wave! The wave doesn't even seem to be a Jeep thing, around my area it's exclusively a Wrangler thing.

It isn't just a Wrangler thing..... I can't get any Jeep I pass to wave back @ me in my Cherokee either..... I have waved to people in CJ's, FSJ's, as well as other newer Wranglers and not gotten a return wave... I have only gotten one return wave in the year I have had my Jeep...

I've had my TJ for 2 weeks and already experienced The Wave. I find it fun, having been 'waving' at people for years from the back of the Harley...it's a natural for me. In fact, I view the TJ as a 4-wheel version of my bike...the one I can get my dog in and enjoy riding with her.

As for not being able to wave due to shifting or negotiating some other maneuver, we have the same problem with motorcycles. The solution is The NOD, usually accompanied by a smile. It's not the wave itself that's important as much as the acknowledgment. The other driver/rider will understand.

The "WAVE" is alive and well around here, but it is however, most definately, a WRANGLER thing. Throwing a wave to someone in a Liberty isn't gonna happen..........

I have seen that wave before.

we just bought a jeep and quickly found out about "the wave" now it's a race to see who will do it first, usually its all of us at the same time(kids and all) so if you happen by a silver jeep in georgia with 8 hands waving..well that's us..

can you tell we are excited about owning a jeep.

I just bought a 2004 Wrangler Unlimited, I have to admit I had people waving at me for about a week until i realized what was going on. So if ya waved at someone in a lifted red wrangler in Reading, PA and got no response, sorry. lol

Been waving on my bike for a while now, but just haven't gotten used to doing it in the jeep. Notice more waves when she's covered in dirt though.

I go excessive. Normal wranglers I will wave, out the window or above the windshield.

Today however, I saw a beautiful White TJ with the doors off and top down at 7:30 am at the gas station. I honked obnoxiously and waved to the guy and he smiled and waved back.

I did by good deed for the day.

I have noticed that the JKers dont wave much, so much that I even have stopped waving to JKers myself because I am tired of getting snubbed. I have also noticed that women tend to ignore the wave also......... wth???

P.S. JeepOn35s, what was that post?? Do you speak english or has our public school system gone that far down in standards that our kids can't even talk now? so sad.........

Hey now, I'm from Florida and not a sentence away from being considered mentally handicap, and a "Jeep wave" away from creamin' my jeans. Probably one of the many A.D.H.D. kids that mean well, but just get a little excited.

Oh, and total thread hijack BTW.

The Wave

Well I got my 97 wrangler in Feb. this year and in Oklahoma the wave is alive and well! But I will say 90% of the time I'm the first to wave!

Only had mine for 3 days, waved several times, yet to get one in return. Oh, and I drive a JK, and I wave! Only because I did my research here before I bought it, otherwise I would have never known!

1) What's wrong with Southern education?

2) Florida's not the "real" South. Ask my wife, she's from Naples.

This is most likely in some form of code. I have come across this quite often and it is scary.

hi........
I think I'll go by my town school admin office and thank them for all the school bus drivers waving at me, when I drive by

I don't know, maybe thats because my jeep jk is YELLOW, or

Could be just because it's a jeep, none of the NON-JK JEEPERS wave back !!!

I have noticed like others that woman do not wave back why is that??

I have instructed \ educated my woman to wave to any and all Wranglers not jeeps in general (Sorry to offend) I am a JK owner and to be honest I wave ALL the time. I get NO response from other JK's and only maybe 50% from older jeepers.

All JK owners are not that young that they have never heard about the wave I'm just sayin

"WRANGLER = IT'S A WAY OF LIFE"

I just realized how futile the plethora of threads on "the wave" are... the non wavers don't get it and will likely never see this forum....
