I always throw up the rock on horns \m/
And I always get them back from fellow jeepers in my town.

Just got my "new" Wrangler last weekend...I know about the wave and I was so excited to get out there and share my new toy....very disappointed in how many Jeepers don't wave.
I'll keep doing it though...

Congrats on the "new" Jeep, whether it's "new" or not! I was disappointed in the other Wranglers too, when I got mine a few months ago. I figure about a 30 percent wave-back factor. But, I'm pressing on... My thing is a hand wave from the steering wheel. If they don't get it, they don't get it!

New to Jeep forum, wise in the ways of the wave.

I recently bought my first jeep in over 10 years. I'm glad you folks posted this thread, because I would have been quite irritated had I not gotten a wave when I get it on the road next week. Keep spreading the love, Jeepers. We're a family now.

I don't know why ppl think this is a new thing my dad has been doing if since his first jeep in 75'! But if ppl put a big sticker on the windshield about waving it might help out.

I agree! Earlier in this thread i said someone needs to make a 'i still wave' vinyl or decal for the windshield or front license plate. If i had hook ups i would but i dont....

We'd just have to figure out something clever to put on it. And my sister just married a guy whose business does shirts and stuff like that (not sure about decals though) so he might be able to make something up for this.

I am a new jeep owner and had heard about the wave. I wave at every jeep I see. Here's my stupid question...is there a certain jeep wave I'm supposed to do? Want to get it right, lol.

I have been driving The Freezer since Tuesday of this week and, for the second day in a row, I got totally ignored. The first one was a good looking TJ and I pulled up next to him. I watched him and waited for him to turn and look. He did, but the opposite direction! I waved to his nice looking Jeep anyway. At the very least, the Jeep deserved it for such fine looks.

The second was a Tan Sahara TJ(VERY fine looking as well for her age). Sad thing is, I know who the driver is. She HATES JKU's. I think I will have to stop by her store, that we frequent I might add, and drag her butt out to the Freezer to actually LOOK at him and not just dismiss the the JKU out right because it's a four door. Shoot! She LOVED The Bullet and actually had no clue that he was a JK! She is a nice lady though, so I'll keep on waving to her around town! She'll break someday.

It's not a new thing at all, there are just a bunch of ppl new to Jeeps since the Jk came to market. Now there are soccer moms in Jeeps driving to the grocery store.

I do the 4-finger steering wheel lift or the nonchalant full-hand palm out the side window. And just to Wranglers, because nobody else waves back. And in fact, only about 1/3 of the Wrangler owners wave back, and almost none of them are female. Too bad, but I'm waving anyway! Congrats on your Jeep -- keep the wave alive!

Sales of the JK and JKUs probably kept Fiat from killing Wrangler 3 years ago.

The old design, including the motor and the interiors, couldn't keep up. The new design reinvigorated the brand, not to mention Quadratec, AEV and hundreds of other aftermarket manufacturers and suppliers, not to mention thousands of auto workers in Toledo, plus thousands more people who work in the independent Jeep shops. Ask them how they feel about the JK and JKU.

Without the JK and JKUs, earlier-generation offroad Jeep owners would find parts and services harder and harder to find. Next thing you know, you may as well be driving a Delorean or a Plymouth Prowler.

Wrangler's one of the last few, unique, interesting, All American vehicles, so as a fellow Jeeper, I wave at all Wranglers.

You can do as you like, of course. But with all due respect, those JK and JKU drivers did you a favor.

I been wheeling for 26 years, I've wheeled the west coast the east coast and the south so I know I'm not a wanna be. But when I see a 4 year old Jk with every chrome adornment and big tires with no lift and the jeep owner tells me, " oh no, I don't wanna be in your Offroad club, I don't take my Jeep Offroad", that's a wanna be.

And yes the Jk did help Jeep sales and the after market product sales, no denying that. But the truth is a lot of ppl buy the Jk expecting it to drive like a car, they learn otherwise and dump the Jeep on a used car lot. These too are the wanna be's. The Jeep Wrangler used to be marketed as an enthusiast vehicle, but not no more all for the sake of increasing sales. All this JK turnover is causing Jk owners to lose value on they're Jeeps because the market is flooded with used Jeeps. The Jk is not a bad Jeep, it's just that non-enthusiast are buying them and the don't understand the Jeep culture. Kinda like when yuppies started buying Harleys (rubs. Rich urban bikers). They didn't understand the Harley culture and got a rude awakening.

I drive a jku and it is stock, that doesn't make me a wanna be! I would love to raise it and throw big tires on it unfortunately I can't afford to do that right now. But I do use it for all that she can be used for..... playing in the mud (top down doors off) climbing hills n grocery shopping.
I loved my YJ but needed the comforts and Xtra doors of the JKU for my daughter ( she has lupus).
I guess I'm just saying not all JK/ JKU drivers are wanna be's.

I'm starting to make my wave more noticeable by sticking my hand out the window instead of the steering wheel wave. It's worked pretty well untill you get the soccer mom who looks out of place in anything other than a mini van.

I wheel my big bad lifted Expedition, and not so much my Jeep. But I love that my JKU will take me and my family anywhere I want to go, and I don't have to worry about any mountain roads, or snow covered passes, or anything as it is super capable at everything. Maybe I'm a wannabee, but I'm a proud wannabee cuz I wannabee in my Jeep 24hrs a day!!!!!!!! No one waves in my town unfortunately. I've tried, and I just get weird looks. lol.

Growing up in West Texas we waved at everyone and everyone waved back. I continue the wave to all Jeeps. The more modified the Jeep, the longer the wave and show of respect. Just my thoughts.

And I'll admit sir, that you should embrace others that share your love for, such a great and capable breed of, your favorite vehicle brand. I love to wheel my stock JK. And like all things (not just jeeps) if you see it and aren't sure about it, you try it!!! That is a wanna b. There is no reason for your negative connotation of a wanna b. I've always loved the outdoors and wheelin. I will be stock for a while (I'll do the responsible thing and give the first 29k to the finance company) and will keep on waiving at any and all beautiful jeeps. SO JUST SMILE AND WAIVE BACK!

Stock doesn't mean Stuck
